Bruh! Thank you for this footage. Thank you to the BD and band staff of BOTH of these institutions. Thank you to the members of BOTH bands for keeping the SPIRIT alive, bruh. I'm REALLY diggin the sound of MILE's Bass drums and how they complement the Sousas... and how they carry across the field. This was a balanced battle (IMHO) in terms of the band match up. I wish AAMU didn't get cut off so short on the first couple of tunes. I gotta shout out to both trumpet sections cause trumpet has been pigeon holed into this screaming kazoo mentality in the past 10 years or so (only time you hear them is trying to scream in musical holes), but yall are puttin in work and can be heard amongst those major Mello/Baritone/trombone sections that both schools have. I marched trumpet at Morehouse 03-07 (trumpet section leader 05-07) and I've watched the SPIRIT of students dwindle at various schools for many reasons, but BOTH schools came to PLAY this day. Miles is BACK and I'm glad! It's like looking at 05/06 version, but cleaner! We're working to revive Morehouse as well, but every institution has it's own set of difficulties. THANK YOU for keeping it REAL. #Salute #HBCULove

Only gets better throughout the season, as they work on those small flaws, its not about swac or these other people yall praise , quick to talk down or say what this band or that band cant do or handle, sthu. Good job A&M to, itll be nice if they played each other Labor Day Classic!

Miles gets the edge for Entertainment. Aamu isn't bad at all, however, I don't think they are as musical as they believe themselves to be. Just because they aren't "blowing wigs" back doesn't mean they're more musical than bands like Miles, SU, JSU,, Al State, and etc. It's all about preference and pride anyways. Like who you like and keep disliking the styles you don't. Ha.

Yall act like the swag is the SEC of bands dam. It dont matter what conference you are in nor does it matter when it comes to division 1 or division 2. If that was the case known of the hbcu bands will never get any great recruits. Yall swac people are going over board like its a big difference in the band programs. Hell there are small bands that sound like shit in the swac just like in any other conference. So please stop acting like a band such as Miles cant last in the swac.. Lol yall treat the swac like its the dam NFL of bands. Cut that shit out. It dont matter whether u siac swac ciaa meac sec etc... Band is a dam band. Now if u judging on football than in some instants your point is correct but that still dont mean an siac football team cant beat and swac team because it has happen and still happens. So.please shut this swac band shit up

It is now 2 days past the HBOTB. And Miles was not one of the 8 Bands. Explain that Sirs.. Young musicians and band majors from Miles College. I am a FAN of Miles College as i lived on 60th street for years and I am a HBCU band fan no matter who it is. Mr. Merriweather was my Mentor and Band Director at Ensley High so dont think your speaking to a Old Skool novice. I dont like tooting my own horn but I was 1st trumpet 2nd chair for 2 years straight from 84 to 86 and there wasnt any trumpet player in Birmingham that could woop Landis Marshall and Me on trumpet. I love college bands just like you do but I will grade AMU higher based on overall musicality. Yes Miles is there! They sound powerful and are a band to be recognized but AMU gets the edge overall. Im looking forward to Miles making there mark in HBCU history because they sound Very Good! Go Miles! Im looking to here from those trumpets because that bottom is FIRE!

+S Jay Ryans sometimes bands have different styles miles was a band just like a and m that had a great sound but had no aggression but when prof means recruited us from new Orleans in 04 the identity changed cause now u are recruiting kids that come from that aggressive back ground the band took on that Montra but even though they are loud they still sound good but some styles are different and that was a classic example last night.

Miles took the W. AAMU need to play songs that everyone can relate to. They also need to upgrade they book. Miles was powerful and everyone played there part. I didn't hear them mess up once so being louder didn't hurt it helped. If i was over a botb and only one band can play in the stands at that time I'm going to let the crowd pleaser play. I was there and I know I wanted to here Miles more.

balance vs overblowing ? don't get me wrong, all hbcu bands are known for being loud, but however I know some who are balanced, and some who are not. For example all I hear from miles is baritones and mellos like where is the trumpets and trombones ? Alabama a&m was well balanced, and respectful. Fuck recruiting because at the end of the day if I had to choose between the two my kids would attend Alabama a&m. I wouldn't let any of my kids attend a school that disrespects another band such as cutting them off, and or playing out of turn. Miles is a great band, and I respect their program, and I am good friends with one of the directors, but I am stating facts.

You all are a joke!!! clearly miles is bigger than A&M...but if you want to be technical A&M band sounded better. Just because a band is louder does not mean they sound good. You honestly can tell people who know music because of the comments on this post! A&M was in clearly in tune.

Miles College straight cranked on AAMU in the stands. AAMU's field show was much better than MC's. The sound of both bands are improving though.

So basically yall swing aamu is more musical than Miles? Really? Miles never even got to their book of songs for what? No reason too lol. A&m played a couple of songs now yall musical. Funny!!! Go check Miles 5th quarter with other bands and tell me how musical they are.. Everyone has their own style Miles aamu state etc.. So get your facts straight before you go judging on musical. Better yet invite Miles to the hill that will settle the story. Yall just got a new band director now all of sudden yall musical lol aiight

Umm if a band declares they play well and faces another band that possesses competition of course it will be a rivalry.. It's only a little competition. Get over it #Miles4da1tyme. #Bi#Bi... #3thumbs.

This ain’t it bruh. Just blowing being loud but not putting any actual power into the horn. Everyone just breathing wherever they want not articulating or balancing at all. Not everything is about trying to be loud and no I’m not some dci guy or wtver y’all always rebuttal with but if you listen to BCU or FAMU you’ll hear real power and musicality. Sound travels further when it’s all together that’s why articulation is so important.

It's a lot of Helen Kellers on here. It's no way Miles ever have or ever will sound and look better than AAMU. A&M worst year was better than Miles' best year.

I believe some persons sniff SWAC like some sniff crack, let alone Miles, there are few MEAC that can hand L's to the Swac as well as many PWI bands too. Miles is accredit to its own development and you all and several other Swac schools wouldn't want those problems...
