@rizato13 жыл бұрын
Curry’s game is built properly, and add in super human shooting. The other guys probably more mid range guys, undersized for nba. Morrison just another post player that can get stopped in nba
@tonystarkz38772 жыл бұрын
Jimmer is a legend in China. Morrison was derailed by injury
@jimmyfuckthechainofcommand43322 жыл бұрын
Yep. There's always an ingredient to success on the next level that is hard to measure. Some make that breakthrough and others don't. And there's not always a good "reason". Most of the reasons guys come up with in hindsight is just looking at the outcome to try to create a reason. There's been people less talented than Jimmer, smaller and less athletic as well who have made it at the next level. TJ McConnell for example. Jimmer beats him in every measurable and was clearly more talented, but TJ McConnell is a mainstay in the NBA and Jimmer couldn't last and wasn't even able to make a comeback in a 3pt happy era despite several attempts.
@lawyerformerlyknownaspotat51762 жыл бұрын
Curry’s release is lightning fast - much faster than Morrison or Fredette. His away from the ball movement is also pure artistry - and he never gets tired so can move continuously in patterns that are crazy hard to defend for a full possession.

That Davidson team not only had the great Curry, but went 20-0 in conference play, won their conference tournament with ease, and was riding a 25 game winning streak coming into the Kansas game. Needless to say, they gave the eventual champs all they wanted, and certainly gave them a better game than another team from North Carolina did in the Final Four that year.

I've been watching the NCAA Tournament ever since 1990. This is probably the greatest NCAA Tournament performance run by any player that I've seen in the history of the tournament. Steph Curry carried that Davidson team. If Curry didn't play for Davidson, they wouldn't have made it that far in the tournament as they did that year or to be honest not have made it to the tournament at all. Basketball will always be a team sport, one player can make a significant difference but one player cannot do it by his or her self. I remember watching that 2008 tournament and watching Davidson lose that game to the Jayhawks in the elite 8. I couldn't believe he passed up on the last shot. How do scouts look at this and not see a unicorn
@drestathagangsta88804 жыл бұрын
Because he played at a small no-name school. If Steph would've done this at Kentucky, Duke or UCLA, then he would've been the #1 pick instead of Blake Griffin.
@noahdomingo11624 жыл бұрын
@@drestathagangsta8880 It doesn't help that people thought he was just really weak and not at all fit for the bruising he would have to go through in the NBA. Everyone was probably high on Blake because of his raw attributes, and the fact that he was really explosive. The philosophy even just in 2010 as that big men were the dominant force because they could just bully the opposition, but the issues of being big and not very fast were ultimately exploited at some point, and now the more optimized play calls that are run have really helped guards and playmakers play efficiently.
@ThaiTran-oj5ls4 жыл бұрын
He was a small 6'3 guard from a small school and in comparison to other point guards like Johnny Flynn (played better competition), and Rubio and Brandon Jennings (played overseas) scouts thought they were better prospects. Blake Griffin was the consensus number 1 pick and if you don't pick him first overall, you should be fired as he was a franchise-altering player. In many ways BG had lived up to his hype, but injuries and second round chokes did them in. Plus Harden, Tyreke Evans (6'6 Combo Guard) and believe it or not Hasheem Thabeet was seen as better prospects. There were concerns about Curry’s size, athleticism and the dimensions of his game. Many thought he was too small and slow for the NBA, and many thought he was just a brilliant shooter who did not have other elite aspects of his game. Lots of amazing college shooters fail spectacularly in the NBA. In addition, Curry played shooting guard for his first 2 years of college. Many felt he was an undersized NBA shooting guard, rather than a point guard. No one could have foreseen what Curry accomplished in the NBA because much of it was unprecedented, especially from a long range shooting perspective. You can’t draft based on things that are completely unknown and fantastical.

Obviously I didn't think steph would become what he became in the NBA, but one thing for sure, even back in 2008, he was must see TV. He was by far the most intriguing player to watch in this tournament, and even the next year when he returned to school, every time he was on TV, I was tuning in if I could. I hated that people doubted that he would make it in the NBA, even though I wasn't all the way sure myself.
