It always looks so easy but I have the same cutter and haven't had one clean cut. I'm doing something wrong! Maybe not letting it boil for 30 mins.
@marcieziv7 ай бұрын
Hello! Ok so let’s do some troubleshooting here: 1. Make certain your glass bottle is super clean. Void of any adhesive etc from labels. 2. Make certain that your cutter screws are tight, and also sharp. I’ve put a bit of oil on mine before as well. Ever so little. 3. Secure your position of bottle on the cutter and go around ONCE. You are simply scoring it. Put enough water in bottle to avoid buoyancy and then Set your bottle in the water and heat up super hot. ( try placing bottle in right after you fill up your pan with water so bottle heats up whilst water is heating up. ) vs putting bottle in after it’s heated. Leave bottle in there for 30 min. Take your pan/bottle set up over to sink and carefully removing bottle with pot holder empty water out that you used to keep the bottle from being buoyant and run your cold water over your cut line. Turn bottle while you do this. If it doesn’t budge put it into hot water vessel again - dunk it- try tapping at sides of vessel. Then under cold water again on the line. It’s got to be one of these things I mentioned. Another thing I’ve personally noticed: some glass is more challenging than others to cut. Pellegrino bottles are easy, blue Saratoga bottles, regular Pinot Grigio ( very light aqua ish green and chardanay bottles are easier. The darker bottles were a bit testy sometimes. I practiced on the former. You GOT this😊 I expect to hear some great progress from you shortly!! Thank you for watching😊

Everytime I used a bottle cutter my bottles cracked. I bought a Skil wet saw. Replace the blade with a diamond blade. Not one cracked

What rock tumbler did you use for the glass bottle top and how do you do that exactly? Thank you
@marcieziv8 ай бұрын
Hello! I think you are referring to the blue glass I wired to the bottle? If so that is recycled injected with color glass which I bought from a rock yard. The interior bottle used as a clacker was put into a harbor freight rock tumbler. I have a video on how to make faux seaglass. This video will show you how to make your own. Thank you for watching!⭐️

Thank you so much for your video!! What do you use to get your labels off? I have soaked them - and then used “Goo Gone” - but is there an easier way?
@marcieziv2 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Yes, what I do is put a bit of water in bottle ( to combat buoyancy ) and soak them in a hot water bath on stove. Typically I load up a pot with the bottles I make super hot water and let it be for couple of hours- many times the label will simply come right off in the hot water- Then I remove label and anything left over with sharp razor- also for a strange reason unbeknownst to me the scientific basis) (use peanut butter and smear on whatever remains yes there can be some truly pesky labels!. 😀thank you for watching🦋

thanks so much for replying Marcie.. I cant wait to decorate them.. Im still having trouble getting the wine bottles to cut as nice as yours.. but I wont give up.. I lost many but Im still trying lol ..✨
@marcieziv2 жыл бұрын
Key take aways; make certain your cutting blade is sharp and that the glass bottle has adhesives removed. Take your time scoring the bottle with both hands firmly placed on bottle so it doesn’t wiggle around. I’ve lost count how many bottles I lost but fortunately it’s a never ending supply. That’s the beauty of this material. I kept at it perfecting the technique and now well yes I lost one as you saw on video but for the most part there are clean cuts and the ideas are ENDLESS as far as what you can do with the glass.💯 you got this!
@blucats88882 жыл бұрын
Hi, tried your cutting method, and what happened was the bottoms of the bottles broke off and not at the scored line. Could they get too hot in the water? Left them 30 min in the water.
@marcieziv2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Ok let’s troubleshoot. My first thought is for you to look at your glass cutter. It needs to be sharp. Seriously … sharp. No dull blades need apply here for this job. 😄 the hot water that the bottles simmer in … try this. Place bottles in water and let them get hot together. Vs. placing bottles in already heated water. 30 min isn’t a long time to be in the hot water bath. Let me know how this goes. I want you to have success at this. This is a simple fix. Thank you for watching.

I don't have a glass cutter.
@marcieziv2 жыл бұрын
To score glass bottles in my experience one needs to have some type of cutter. Inexpensive ones are available thru Amazon and big box stores. Another option is to bring it to a local glass company to have them do a bunch of bottles for you😀thank you for watching

I am having so many fails cutting my bottles. Frustrating.
@marcieziv2 жыл бұрын
Ok Regina.. don’t throw in the towel yet. You got this you totally got this.. lets take a look at what you are doing.. couple of things come to mind.. 1. Make sure all adhesive is removed from bottle glass - clean- 2. Use a sharp cutting blade 3. Patience.. 4. When you r cutting the bottle go slowly around with a firm grip on the bottle- and score it.. finally make sure tour water is heated and leave your bottles in there to heat up thoroughly before taking them out and emptying water to run under cold water from faucet…. Look at what you are doing. It will work. If any one of these above in my troubleshooting is off then your glass may crack. One can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect great results if something needs to b tweaked it could be just that. When I first began cutting bottles I tried many a method and have lost many bottles- fortunately I have a rock tumbler now and repurpose any broken ones I may get ..😀 I expect to hear great things from you .. you will become the overachiever at bottle cutting ⭐️
