All I saw was stunning goal after stunning goal. There is no number 9 in today game scoring goals like van basten not even close this guy was pure class. 2nd only to Brazil r9

What a player. I know "if" is the most useless word in any language, but if he had stayed fit, he would have led Holland to World Titles in 1994 and 1998. Certainly 1998, when we should have won

@@reaganjananto5467 Yes. I often feel like people, also older people/journalists who've seen players like Van Basten and Maradona play, quickly forget how good these players were and jump onto the bandwagon of the next best player ever, whether that's Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé or someone else.

@@Aer0dynam1cc Yes and with the excuse of the players being more modern and blablabla. Van Basten, Maradona, Gerd Muller would have scored as many or much more with the way defenders are nowadays. Peak defending was 90s and early 2000s.

@@reaganjananto5467 Players nowadays are certainly fitter but that's just due to advancements in how we understand the human body. Every player from the 50s onwards, when playing today, could get that fitness level. For the rest, they aren't better than the players of the 80s/90s I grew up watching (late 80s kid). I can't properly judge how good a Pele, Cruijff, Beckenbauer, Di Stefano, Puskas or Gerd Müller would be because I didn't see how good they actually were, but I'm they'd be elite nowadays. Good point about defending too: if 70s/80s defending was allowed, Messi and CR wouldn't have the amount of goals they had. Defenders would be killing them. Look at defenders like Pepe and Sergio Ramos: they stopped Messi by any means necessary. Until they got sent off again. But that wouldn't happen with old school defending. I'd like to see what would happen to him if Messi nutmegged Baresi. It's like the NBA: they talk about Lebron like there's no tomorrow but MJ, for me, will always be the better player. He went up against actual defence. Lebron goes up for a dunk, nobody does anything to stop him. Pretty easy scoring that way compared to Jordan when teams implemented "Jordan rules" just to stop him.
