#2 My wife's brother lives in Makati, on Hays street. When I first visited hime in 1979, his home had just been built and a house warming party was goine on. His home was also only one of 3 on the whole 4 or 5 blocks. The only telephone pole and line was even further down the way and it took 3 years for Noli to get a phone in his home.

Normally a kilo of rice here cost around 48-60 pesos. You still need to have a permit to carry/own a gun here before this shops will allow you to buy those real guns but those airsoft guns i think you don't need a permit..

@@xXCigarXx Yeah i think it's not the amount of guns, but the amount of mass shootings/school shootings etc being so low is the crazy thing about the Philippines. There's more guns than people since they make it themselves. TIME Magazine wrote a piece on it and have theories, you could easily find it if you look for Philippines, Time magazine, and the word shooting. Check it out, i think it's just the psych and culture is a bit different. Was an interesting topic.

#5 feeding cats, in Hawaii folks will buy cans of cat food, open them and leave the cans all over the beach area. In the PH, cats have a really hard time - not many survive to adults. When I first came to the PH, there was no pet food in stores. Even today when we eat in out door restaurants and I see a few cats roaming around, I drop some meat under the table for them. I really appreciate the man for feeding them. I also would not try to pet a ferrel cat.

#6 In Cebu, I am pretty sure that you can not buy ammo with out a gun permit that shows you have a police clearance to have your gun. I gave one of the security guards enough money to buy new ammo for his gun and the loops in his gun belt. He was always polishing the brass heads to make the bullets shine.

#4 you convinced me, I will try a Cobra next time in Cebu. side comment, we may have to rent a place next trip in Nov. we got an offer of 30 million peso's for our home on Mactan Island. ( not sold until the money is in our hands ) but the lady was very happy when she saw the house. Her husband in in a wheel chair and we have a down stairs Master bed room ( MASTER bed room can still be said in the PI, not like the Snow Flakes in the U.S. who are triggered by the term.

I, ( wife ) have a 45 in our home in Cebu, it is registered with my wife and she had to do the police back ground, and they require that she fire it one time. Yeah there's a lot of guns in the Philippines. There's more guns than people over there cause of the gun factories.. Anyways, TIME made a piece on their site about the amount of guns there are over there and asks why the amount of Mass Shooting over there basically dont exist compared to America. Should be an easy search. They've got some theories which is pretty cool, but yeah i think it's also the culture and the way they think.

@@marcoroams oh speaking of which. You should check out some of the home made backyard guns factories . Vice made a number of these videos too. I’d like to ask them if business has picked up due to the conflict with China. Are they increasing backyard production for possible neighborhood militias. And the bladesmiths (panday) making the bolos, have they been busy too? When I was younger in the 90s we would make guns out of pipes and stuff you buy at the home hardware. For us we find the parts at the junk yards or car shops. I’m in Canada now but this stuff feels like it was yesterday.

@@prosimian yeah but the crime rate has significantly improved due to duterte's purge. according to numbeo the the ranking per country places philippines at 86, with Venezuela at number 1. Mexico at 42, US at 58, Canada at 78. Of course it also depends on the location and the reporting. But similar to any other country there are bad places and good places. I'm from Vancouver and it's really pretty and all but have you seen the downtown eastside? Where the homeless are zombies all cracked out. You could compare by going on youtube and typing Hasting and Main. Now compare that with Tondo. The difference is that the residence are poor while the residence at hasting and main are drugged out. And Americans have this misconception that Philippines is dangerous.... but travel to Latin America for vacation lol. Trust me it's scary over there like in Columbia or in Venezuela. You'll get robbed just cause of your phone. So yeah, the grass is not greener outside of the philippines lol
