Marcos laments poor showing of Philippine universities in Asia's top 100 list

In a speech during the National Higher Education Summit on Wednesday, May 15, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. notes the increase in the number of Philippine higher education institutions included in world university rankings, but laments the lack of Philippine representation in the Times Higher Education’s 2024 Asia University Rankings. "This just goes to show that much work is still to be done," he says.

The Department of Education (DepEd) governs Basic Education Schools. TESDA governs technical-vocational schools not run by DepEd and offers certification certificates. CHED governs tertiary-level institutions offering university and college courses.

This is correct, our education is stagnant. We cannot even compete with our neighbors this time. As an employee, I witnessed how majority of our Filipino employees in abroad and even in our own backyard remain under the supervision of foreigners. I worked in KSA, most Filipino employees are on the level of rank and file employees. The same in Kuwait, Taiwan, and in other countries. Filipinos remain rank and file even though they completed 4-year or 5-year bachelors degree. Can we start changing this Mr. President starting now? Ang pangarap ng karamihang Filipino na empleyado ay marating ang kahit na managerial level lalo't sa abroad nagta trabaho. At kung dito naman sa Pilipinas sana ay Filipino ang boss or manager ng mga Filipino hindi foreigner. Kung foreigner man ang amo sana ay talagang tunay na expert at seguraduhing mas magaling kesa sa available na Filipino. Filipino first in the Philippines dapat.

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="290">4:50</a> with that in particular - understanding of an English language at an early age is a must and very important (teachers/parents should religiously monitor them) as i struggle for the information back then on my primary school for simple definition of an English word that were not available to every classrooms (i.e., dictionary) even at home. why English? simply because it's fundamental to learning technologies and acquiring knowledge that are coming and written by English people. and if you are equip with understanding of that language you can easily adapt to any changes of technologies. as i experience it myself. i don't care nowadays whatever new tech comes out - i just go back to their documentation and able adjust and adapt

Maybe more investment? Maybe better support for students who enter higher education rather than the workforce? The educational standards are fine. The system is not. The opportunity cost of higher education is costs incurred by the families and the denial of income to them. My step-daughter and niece are studying Architecture and Pharmacy respectively. However, were it not for the fact that I, a foreigner, support them they would have otherwise been unable to do so and would have had to join the workforce, either here or overseas, to support their families.

DepEd and CHED mag lagay kayo ng English-Tagalog dictionary sa bawat classrooms - sa library kasi mag hihiraman pa sa nag iisang dictionary at kailangan pa ng ID tamad na ang estudyante pumunta doon para lang sa isang english word na unknown sa utak ng estudyante na nahiyang magtanong sa titser dahil baka mag mukhang hindi magaling magturo ang guro kapag ginawa ito ng estudyante kaya ang English-Tagalog dictionary sa bawat classrooms ay malaking tulong sa development ng estudyante - dahil doon ako nag struggle noon dahil ang ibang subjects ay naka sulat sa English gaya ng math and science and understanding them requires fundamental knowledge of English language. kaya ang sumunod na aralin hanggang mag college ay hirap pa rin ako.

Ma'am , Before we start to explain how became a teachers or proffesors in the schools those people who teaches our kids then. They had finish 4 years course in college,and some they had masteral degree. And before they became theachers or professors in that premises university. They were so many applicants to apply then but the most fortunate to accept or pass was only teacher one or two that is qualifying for the taste of the interviewer. How come,the teachers teaches our students were weak and dull as you have said awhile ago.
