Everything is finally starting to click. Defense is looking better with the blitz, and attacking selections made all the difference. Very excited to see the backline develop over the next few years. Why was Smith's drop goal “Incredible “. .? It was bang in front of the posts from 15 yds with the benefit of penalty advantage. My mum could have kicked that with her apron on. Now if the headline had been about Earl's world class performance or that England won despite the best efforts of George Ford it might have been worthy of the name.

Smith stole the headlines because he cane on late after Ford's awful kicking performance, brought much more dynamism and speed to England's attack, and had the clarity of mind to go the tye drip goal rather than wait for the penalty.

Fact is, he DID do it. Neither you nor your mum could ever do it. And your missing that in this clip alone he threw two passes, hit a crucial ruck at which England got the first advantage, then positions himself for the winning kick, which he makes.

From the moment Furbank took that first kick, and raced off on that diagonal run, you knew this was a different England. Furbanks inclusion is crucial. If it had been poor old pedestrian Freddie Steward, he would have lumbered upfield a few metres, then done an average up and under, which Ireland probably would have diffused, and then whole game is different.

Only his second international start. He scored a try, and looked dangerous in the loose. Most top teams have a second distributor, and an attacking threat, at 15 now (Ramos, Willemse, Barratt etc.) He's that guy for us, and needs to be starting unless it's going to be wet weather rugby being played, in which case Steward is the best in the world under the high ball.

I don't know if Furbank is the answer however he does things in attack that Steward can't, he has good speed and has vision which a lot of professional rugby players in England don't possess, England always looked dangerous and that isn't something we have seen very often in recent years .

Loved the result, but let's be honest, it was not an "incredible" drop goal, however the build-up was. But with penalty advantage and an easy kick at goal in the bag, Care should have used the Drop Goal pass as a decoy and popped it to Marler instead who would have been in under the posts for his first England try, a more reflective score line, and most importantly, a bonus point. That would have made this weekend's scenarios a little clearer, and completely avoid the unlikely possibility of Ireland winning the title despite losing more games than England. All that said, well done England for competing all over the park again, and let's go do one on the French for last year!

I was in the east stand today and I was a fantastic game to watch as an Englishman. The anthem set the tone for that performance. it was a stroke of genius on Marcus Smith’s part to go for the drop goal rather have waited for the ref to pull them back for the penalty kick. That way England had two attempts at winning the game. I thought it was a brilliant tactic.

The second penalty called by the ref was in an easy position. The drop goal was a "free shot" because there was the easy position penalty. This is completely standard and what any team does when they know that they have a penalty advantage in a good position - take a risk knowing you have the penalty to come back to. It's completely basic 101 stuff.
