Thank you for the updates. I just found out from my SIL overseas that my mom loves Wang YiBo and avidly follows everything about him online. I find this freaking amusing LOLOLOL. I've been cracking up every time I see some stuff about him online, like tonight. I like Zhao LuSi's new song. I agree with the Douban ratings for both the dramas. I'm excited that LXY has another drama coming out and he's playing another "dark" character. Yessssss! He's good at it. Reba's Love On a Turquoise Land sounds really interesting and different. I'll definitely check that one out. Haven't started anything since I'm still hooked on Kill Me Love Me (Whip Me Bite Me--this drama has it all). Cheers!

Hi 👋: I think DNAD is too low; I gave it a 9.5 because other than some confusion at the end, the storyline was good, it never dragged, no filler episodes, and great character development. I usually don’t like propaganda dramas but this one was very doable as it focused more on cop/crime. Snowy Nights is dropping express tomorrow so that will be a death toll tally one. Otherwise watching KMLM and Rise of Ning, will start Hidden Amidst Clouds or whatever its name is when it premieres in a day or so. Love on the Turquoise Land looks great. It’s gritty and awesome. Honestly looks perfect for Halloween lol. Firstly congrats to XZ and CY for wrapping their respective film/series. But the plane thing pisses me off! Where are the flight attendants? It’s their job to keep passengers safe especially once already boarded. It’s like there’s no security at the airport at all; just anyone can go to any gate and get on any plane; domestic or international. It’s ridiculous! As for BL, they’d had paparazzi photos of her and ZLH together before but perhaps she’s single now. I think ppl pay attention to her and that because she’s often dated her ML’s in the past. But now really who are we to speculate? It’s her private life; keep it that way. I mean famous ppl can’t even board a damn plane without getting mobbed let alone date over there; sheesh!

I’m on episode 15 , it’s fast paced from the beginning. I don’t think it’s boring at all .. maybe there are moments when Wu Jinyan’s character Mei Lin a little bit annoying about her attitude towards Liu Xueyi’s character Jinghe but not too annoying those moments because the plot is good 👍 heartbreaking at times. They both really good looking in this drama and actually they do have good chemistry too. 😊

DNAD rating was lower than I expected ; I'd have envisioned 7.5 ; the actors were good, the story was thrilling enough, the pace was reasonable: not too slow, not boring ; cinematography was good too in my opinion, and I thought the gallery of villains was interesting, although some of them were too sketchy so not more than 7.5 from me for a good "revolutionary time" drama. Nie Yuan was a good counterpart to Chen Zheyuan who played the young maverick and brought some nice touches such as when he was handling the messenger pigeons, coaxing the neighbors, or stroking his big cat Liu Yi (his real life pet), but he could not perform romantically with his signature face and eye play, because the story had no part for romance. Sun Yan who played Xu Wei, the ex colleague and friend of Lin Shaobai (CZY) played with remarkable nuance his conflicted part of agent who was forced to choose the wrong camp. The drama was more a thriller set in the turbulent year of the establishment of the PRC, than a direct heavy handed propaganda time piece, despite it was airing to coincide with dates that had historical significance for the period (Sept 18, Oct 1). Perhaps some were critical of including in cast some that could be perceived as "too much idol" or "cozying to some" (the daughter of a famous business leader and the daughter of Nie Yuan) but dramas seem to need at least some well established or celeb names to attract different types of audiences: this time, the tentative emerging celeb was "rookie" Annabel Yao, playing one of the few female roles, very separate from Xing Fei who was cast as a relatively colorless coroner and medical technician. And instead of Xiao Zhan (who also did a drama about that period in the past year), or Zhao Lusi (who portrayed the hutongs of Beijing around 1949-50), or Huang Jingyu (who could have easily added another police uniform), the "lead idol" choice went to Chen Zheyuan for his lighter way of portraying different characters. He is intent to shed the "idol actor" persona, but production certainly hoped that his fandom would be strong enough to help promote the drama, filmed in the wake of his big romance success of the summer of 2023. Nevertheless, fandom comes with anti fan risks too, so all those who rated on Douban may have been influenced one way or another, aside from the drama's own merits. On the other hand, perhaps some who noticed that Nie Yuan was also playing in 9.4 Douban rated She and her girls (a truly remarkable biographical drama) may have compared his take on the different characters and also supported DNAD.
