I was just a few years too young to be aware of Beatlemania (and surrounded by great Motown music in the Detroit area, so anything more would have been overwhelming). So when COVID hit, I treated myself with renting my first streaming movie, A Hard Day's Night. I watched it five times in 48 hrs. I have been crushing on Georgie ever since. If you were alive then and anywhere from 8(I was 10) to 18, perhaps even to 28, then you could understand the situation that was called BEATLEMANIA. Now it seems absurd. There was NOTHING to compare them to. Only ELVIS could cause such a stir. And many dethroned the KING when the Boys arrived in America.
@MrDaiseymay
@MrDaiseymay 2 жыл бұрын
Sadly, from a musical point of view, i think Elvis had lost his way. In 1956, HE, had done exactly the same thing to the music industry. Revolution.
@idfy2599
@idfy2599 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrDaiseymay Right. He entered the film industry. Beatles were unique in that they wrote their own stuff. I'm not sure if Elvis ever composed. George Harrison once commented that Elvis only had himself and the four of them had each other. I think they bounced ideas off each other and had a better perspective of what their audiences liked. They were in the same generation. Elvis pre service was not the same after he served. The BEATLES changed with the times. Some liked them after '66 and some didn't. When they split, they all were successful, but It wasn't the same success as when they were all together. I never liked Elvis ,but I was born in '54. When the BEATLES arrived, I was 9. Elvis to me was never the King. I would rather listen to Buddy Holly. I do understand why Elvis was popular. I've been to Graceland. Elvis' entourage we're just yes people. He didn't seem to have any fresh ideas, but the movies made him wealthy. Anyway, a lot of bands made people forget about Elvis, in America and in the UK. His rags to riches fame added to his popularity. Beatles did the same thing times four.

@@peepdawg8995 I think so also. A great influence on the BEATLES song writing. It was the Everly Brothers that they emulated for their harmonies. But Buddy could compose, perform, and produced . Beatles name came from the Crickets. So, yes underrated.
