for anime fights. History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Shirahama. as for the best for personally its the final fight of season 1. Kenichi vs Odin. personally just watch the entire anime. its a martial artist one so you should like it. basically taking true martial arts to the extreme with a touch of anime. like adding Ki as a factor which is a physical presence or I guess an aura. makes those who can use it stronger than any normal human. one is from the manga much later where one of the characters caught up to a missile jumped on it and disabled it before heading back to the other. tho only 2 people on the planet can do that.

Best "action star" of the 80's in my opinion is Harrison Ford specifically in Indiana Jones. I say this because he is one of the only mainstream action hero's in that time period that is vulnerable. His fights are visceral, and he doesn't always win. He is extremely intense and devoted to his role, and he shows humanity and struggle. But, most importantly, he truly perseveres.

tbh I think I agree with this. Indy is also one of the few action movies from 80s that still holds up BECAUSE of those reasons. It helps that they are such tremendously well made movies overall too. Spielberg has ALWAYS been a fantastic director of action sequences at all stages of his career. but having Indiana Jones just throwing haymakers and getting his ass beat will NEVER get old. Plus, he's just a fairly average guy - sure he's tough - but he's not supposed to be portraying a skilled martial artists or elite boxer. Some movies like Rocky bother me because they are so inaccurate to REAL boxing. It almost feels disrespectful lol! Indy is just an everyman throwin hands lol

Idk about the LotR movies having "grounded" fight scenes. Legolas gets progressively more ridiculous in movies.
@samueltheprideofafrikarobi93194 ай бұрын
Also...within both the context of the show and the lore/rules of the world it takes place in, Galadriel can't be held to the same same rules as the humans around her. Because she's NOT human. She's an elf. And elves in LotR are preternatural in their fleetness, grace and speed. Also, magic is almost inherent to their nature and they are known to be more than a bit ostentatious in battle with their movements. All of this is supported by all six movies in the cinematic saga. Latching onto Galadriel's technique in this video was a stretch. It fits within the rules of the fantasy it takes place in and I believe that should always be taken into account when judging a cinematic fight. If the character's actions don't break the rules of the universe they're in, then it shouldn't be considered a negative. (Besides, the move looked dope as hell IMO.)
@hackergaming63724 ай бұрын

It's a stupid trend to conflate fantasy with a lack of realism. Fantasy works because it has realistic elements, that's why the elves aren't "purple goo people from Zornbacklungss that come from the Bronx", they are instead fae-like people, while having magical elements (they are inspired from myths), they are part of the world as much as a hobbit, a human or a dwarf. Her doing that was fucking stupid because it only makes sense if you throw out all logic out of the window, and then, the whole world might as well be made out of cardboard and written by Dr. Seuss.

I still don't really understand the obsession with never using guns in fights. You end up missing out or skipping over really good fight scenes with the excuse of "there are guns" as if that somehow immediately makes a scene bad. Some of the best fight scenes I've watched have included guns. Would really appreciate a reasoning for this that makes more sense. Edit: a lot of people are talking about reasons why he might not discuss gun fights in these videos, but that's not the point. He has repeatedly used gun fights as an example of how to NOT do an action scene, the big example. It's not just that he doesn't want to discuss them, he's actively saying guns in fight scenes are bad.

The ending clip of this video indicated you’ll be talking about monkey man soon. PLEASE HEAR ME OUT: the shaky cam in that film is the one case of shaky cam making sense The first intense action sequence in the film has a lot of shaky cam to show how the main character is inexperienced and unprepared, falling victim to fighters and attacks he couldn’t see coming and wasn’t prepared for, so when the shaky cam makes it hard to see what happened it’s because the protagonist didn’t see what happened Contrast this with the final action sequence and it’s so much more streamlined and clear because he’s has his training and knows he can overcome each fighter presented. It’s an effective use of disorienting shaky cam to put us in the mindset of an inexperienced fighter

The Rocky vs Apollo fight in Rocky II. Such an emotional and intense sequence that brings a good deserved catharsis both to the film's build up and the previous film fight.

Yeah, those early Rocky fights are good!

Suggestions that I think would be interesting; - Kung Fury - KillZone2 (Saat Po Long 2) - Lethal Weapon 4 (Jet-Li's final fight scene)

There’s a new movie that came out this year called: “Life After Fighting”, starring Bren Foster (who also directed & wrote the movie). If you love good fight scenes, it’s a movie I recommend seeking out. It’s direct to video. I wouldn’t have even heard of it were it not for Ramboraph’s review of it.

JCVD and The bouncer really showed us van damme can actually act... at least nowadays. Hands down my top 80s action star as well... with Kurt Russell as a close second, for big trouble in little china.

Fights worth covering: Johnny Cage vs. Scorpion, Liu Kang vs. Reptile, Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung (Mortal Kombat, 1995), Guile vs. M.Bison (Street Fighter, 1994). I'll leave it up to you if these were good or bad 😅 As for anime, I was also fond of the fight between Afro and Jinnosuke/Kuma in Afro Samurai (I believe the bulk of it is in Episode 5, but it technically starts in Episode 4).

If you want a good melee in anime, without magic, supernatural powers or anything like that, a good place to look is ironically Maria the virgin Witch. There you have a great duel between a knight and a mercenary, maybe Landsknecht, with proper use of a buckler and half-swording.

One of the best Anime Fight Scenes ever put to screen is the Azula vs Zuko fight in Season 3 of Avatar the Last Airbender. The action, the music, the story, the character development, it is the best fight scene in the series and one of the best. It’s not the flashiest or most powerful. But it grabs your attention by the throat and keeps you captivated

Really dug the Eastern Promises fight this vid. Anime fights, you say? Broly vs Everyone from Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Literally the second half of the movie. Amazing animation, great choreography, and a sick score. It's hard to top.

The Roadhouse tv series has some good fight scenes. Also, changing it to Bad vs Good Film Fights I think would allow you to cover both movies and television better.

8:40 I think, it's meaning is more so in the context of the scene then in the phrase itself, the joker said the line to Bruce Wayne and now Batman is saying it back to him, I do get your point like what is the actual point of that line but I guess it's to be a power move by batman, idk I very well could be wrong, love the videos BTW, your a massive inspiration on my slow journey into content creation. You have definitely found a voice and unique take on the video essay format.

Hi, I would love for you to check out Samurai Champloo and sword of the Stranger for anime fights. The former incorporates music into the feel of the show and the latter is a very underrated anime movie for fights in my opinion.

I really hope you do the school corridor fight in Grosse Pointe Blank. Short, intense, brutal.

instead of adding "tv" to the title, why not just remove "movie" instead, it'd be just "bad fights vs good fights", with a good thumbnail as exposition to make sure people understand it's fiction/pop culture, you're all set EDIT: and great video as always

If you want a good anime fight, you should definitely check out the final fight from Sword of the Stranger. The fight itself is great, but the rest of the movie provides needed context to really propel it. The protagonist, Nanashi has refused to unsheathe his sword throughout the film due to war trauma, and I can really only compare it to the ending scene of Die Hard in a way. I'll leave it at that so everyone can come to their own thoughts on it, but it's maybe my favorite fight in anime.

For a moment, I thought the video evolved from *Bad Movie Fights vs Good Movie Fights* to *Bad Movie Shootings vs Good Movie Shootings* and then to *Bad Movie Dances vs Good Movie Dances.* 😂

Piggybacking on my Kenichi comment from the last video... The best fights I can think of without rewatching the whole series would be... Kenichi vs Takeda the Puncher, Miu vs Kisara (while Kenichi fights the rest of Kisara's gang), Kenichi vs Thor feels very gritty as they are fighting in a hole in the ground, and last, but never least Kenichi's fight vs Odin at the end. The fight takes 2 or 3 episodes, but it's absolutely worth it!
