Cool👍. I actually use a 2nd output specifically for my reference track only. Instead of bypassing the master track. It’s in the audio output settings in preference section.

There’s an alternative for the “solo follows selection” option: Alt+click the solo button. Which is in my opinion much more convenient. Also, a precision: when you just want to switch back and forth between your mix and a reference, and you have that reference muted, just click repeatedly on the Solo button of that reference track; no need to have the “solo follows selection” option! Some “small” stuff like that just saves you some headaches sometimes, it keeps your workflow fluid.

Thank you Marcus!! I've enjoyed and learned quite a bit from your S1 Tutorials in Groove 3 as well. Your tutorials are well organized, very clearly explained and you have a good tone of voice that makes learning from your videos an enjoyable process.

AB Plugins are Direct From Disk Romplers/samplers...Studio One aleady comes with an DFD AB plugin that lets you save presets of 8 banks of 16 references tracks, level them, loop regions of interest, and toggle exclusive playback. It can even follow your session tempo and sync with the transport with midi if you wish, and it offers midi or remote control in general. It can make use of one track routed the main outs that you can hide and audition exclusively by pressing S on the computer keyboard, without having to cycle through the console channels and without using “solo follows selection”. One of the best AB plugins out there...

Great work brother! A subscribe frkm me is jard yo get.. im nobody, but I willbe soon.. your last three videos have given me some access to things I really could not afford i vsts and for some reason led me to videoso mixdowns that tied so many loose ends in my overall end productions.. i was signed 7 years ago and would pump out material but it was jyst that.. unpolished material.. I bought studio one 4 after heavy reseach and lack of faith in abletons almost blind lack of REAL updates.. i rewire bitwig into studio one and dear god... you sparked something awesome and even if I dont make it thank you, because you have made something that was already fun into a true joy. Cheers

Thanks so much for all your instructional videos. I'm a fan. I notice that you're using Mix FX - do you prefer to use the advanced version of Mix FX to the native version, and also do you prefer Mix FX to other console emulators like Waves NLS or the Slate VCC/VTT or whatever the Slate console emulator is called? If I use a good tape simulation plugin and saturation plugin, do I even need a console emulation plugin? (Would you be willing to do a video on this subject matter?) Thank you!

So when your satisfied that everything matches do you remove the reference tracks and also do set everything back to the master out?
@marcushuyskensmusic4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, No - they will usually stay in the Mix Session.. I may mute the Audio Events (Regions) or disable / Hide the tracks - but they stay in there.. And 95% of the time I mix, I mix through a BUS Channel (MIX BUS) for various reasons, the main 2 being: 1) It gives me a nice input trim that allows me to hit my hardware Bus Compressor at just the right level - without changing my mix.. 2) It allows me to (easily) Print different versions of my Mix IN the actual Studio One Song - and they live on a track with different layers containing the different Mix Versions. :) Hope this helps! Cheers, M 🍻

Mr. Huyskens... just wondering, did you have to make your reg tracks a group for them all to solo?
@marcushuyskensmusic4 жыл бұрын
Well, As some have pointed out in the comments here, using Alt+Clicking solo will solo any track (and cancel out previous solo's) But I usually work with solo follows selection as I mix with a Faderport 16 most of the time. The MAIN thing is really the routing - making sure that you have the reference tracks routed directly to the Main Outs, and that all your other tracks are routed to a BUS Channel (ie Mix Bus) so that your reference tracks don't get hit by anyone processing such as limiters, and Bus Compression that you're applying to your Mix Bus.. Hope this helps? Cheers, M 🍻

Can someone please advise why when I create a mix channel it only appears on the mixer and not as a track like Marcus is? What I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance
