Side Chain Tips when Working with Virtual Instruments in PreSonus Studio One

In this video, I complete the vortex that I was pulled into when exploring Side Chain Sends, and take a look at a using the "receive from output of channel" option in place of using a Pre-Fader Send when working with Virtual Instruments being used as a key to the Side Chain of other Virtual Instruments.

Plugin Delay Compensation Problem in S1 version 6. Plug-ins with look ahead Function activated ,are not correctly delay compensated in sidechain mode. Creating an audible phase shift problems. Pro Tools had to add extra function in settings “ PDC for Sidechain ” For this very reason. Presonus has to definitely fix this issue. It’s a real big deal!!

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. Also I think it will be great to used a shared copy midi clip so that any changes made to the main kick will reflect in SC that's hidden

I do it this way... 1 create a midi/kick track duplicate 2 choose input to on top of click track in console to "none" 3 choose the ouput to "audio destinations" example pads sc compression. Then you can hide the "click" track( if you want to call it that) Hope this helps

Just what I was looking for! Brilliant! I did wonder why I had a different option for sidechain - which seemed useless at first look (can't hear the output??!). Never thought to have a duplicate track! It's especially useful if you use SC compression but have stopped the drums - you don't get a jump in level!

Actually pre/post fader sends were available in v.5. They just weren't as easily accessible as they are now.

Hello, can you also send audio to a virtual instrument like maschine to sample. I found no way to do that with instruments in an instrument track

Multiple issues with PDC in S1. V6. Internal mixdown failures with ProQ3 (their own plug-in) Chopped off beginning ( parts of the wav) after rendering Absolut Desaster !! S1 Internal Mathematik is seriously off

Some composers (myself included) have a hard time printing and letting go of access to the original midi - the actual "performance", if you will, while they're still in the creative musical process, where they may want to change something about that particular instrument part.
