I had an idea for a KZbin challenge while watching this video: We’re calling it the Storyboard Challenge. What you do is listen to an entire composer’s album (like this one) and write an entire film storyboard based on what you’ve listened to. You cannot however change the order of the songs around, your only inspiration is what the composer gave you. I don’t know if people would actually do it, but I feel like it would be really interesting to see what people come up with!

'After the Rain' inspired me to write this kind of short story thing, and I thought it was worth sharing here. Your music is very inspiring in general :3 A child and his mother are sitting at a desk inside a metallic room, both staring at a computer monitor. A farm is visible outside, and beyond that the inside edge of a giant, transparent dome. The sky is a brilliant orange colour, and the sun is visible as a small glowing dot within it. The outside of the dome is lightly coated in rusty dust. The child turns to talk to his mother. CHILD Mummy, is it true what they say? Were there really millions of animals once. MOTHER (laughs, a hint of sadness in her laughter) A long time ago, but yes, there were. CHILD But that’s crazy. There’s only 20 animals now! MOTHER (nods) CHILD Will we ever go back? I want to see an otter in the water, or a wolf hiding in the forest! MOTHER I wish we could go back. We all do. But we mustn’t think about that. We have a new world, and it’s just us now, The Colony. We have to keep looking forwards. Understand? CHILD Yeah… but you said the colony was made by people right? Why didn’t they bring those animals? MOTHER They didn’t have the money. CHILD What’s money? MOTHER It’s something they had back in the old world. It’s hard to explain. CHILD Well whatever it was, it’s not as cool as wolf! I think the old world people were dumb! MOTHER More selfish than dumb. As long as they were safe, and they were free, they didn’t care about the future, or even the people around them. (pauses for a moment) But like I said, we have to forget about them. We have a new world, and a - CHILD (rolls eyes) New future, I know. My teachers tell me that all the time. MOTHER (laughs again) Well, speaking of your teachers, your homework’s not going to do itself. Better get back to it! The child turns back towards the computer, and starts typing. The mother stands up, and walks slowly towards the door. An air of unhappy quiet fills the room.

I like how in this being a "serious" album, you still have fun with your style. Like I had said before, you are the one of my greatest inspirations to make make music. To be creative, have fun, and to be proud of your past music, yet always strive to move forward. As Adam Young has said in The Yacht Club "If you can fly, don't stop at the sky because there's footprints on the moon." You have certainly fulfilled that sentiment, and you'll fly even higher. You're my Liberation. Thank You Marcus. :D

Utterly amazing!!! There are no words to describe the thrill and exhilaration I feel when listening to your music. You create an unbelievable amount of emotion and depth to your music. You are an incredible person Marcus, don't ever forget that. I wish the head of my school orchestra would take a look at this, but he's a little busy this time of year. I would love it if he would give one of these pieces a chance and try it out in our orchestra. It would be more than epic. Sincerely, Soulyman

Just pre-ordered it on Amazon, amazing job man, the preview alone sounds incredible!
@TheMitcher10 жыл бұрын
Very hyped. If I can offer a criticism, in some tracks the usage of VSTs is obvious enough to impinge on the immersion. Tracks like Liberation and The Captain's Dance are beautiful for their upbeat complements to the orchestra's programming. Tracks like After The Rain and Port Wednesday, which seem like they strive to be more free-flowing, end up feeling mechanical for the aforementioned reasons. Otherwise, wow man, you have huge compositional prowess, I can easily see you being the next John Williams, and I'm definitely not the only one :P
@MarcusWarnerMusic10 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I appreciate your feedback. In Port Wednesday and After the Rain, anything specific that you refer to? If it's the piano in After the Rain I have only myself to blame as that was recorded on a live grand with two behringer mics!
@TheMitcher10 жыл бұрын
Hi, Your pianos are lovely ^.^ Your ostinato violins - and what sounds like a contrabass - are what I had in mind. For me they sound more clockwork than they are ambling. The lead in Port Wednesday is the other one (such as 13:55, there are small cracks between pairs of notes like C -> D) and when the brass enters. Unless I'm mistaken, EastWest? The tones are beautiful; I still can't help but think this music would soar even higher from taking additional sections to live recordings. Heh, then again I'm no expert, so take my words whichever way you'd like :3
@MarcusWarnerMusic10 жыл бұрын
Well deduced, although if I may make a point in my favour (not out of defence, just to consider) the lead you mention is an oboe (an instrument I have less experience with than others) - I thought it sounded pretty much identical to the real thing, but if I'm wrong don't hesitate to say. You're correct about the brass, and heavens, if i could afford it, I would, believe me!
@TheMitcher10 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong - it sounds just like an oboe per note, but between notes can you hear the (for lack of the right term) flicker? It comes from the embouchure of course but each one is so uniform to each other that VST leaps to mind. It is quite a small thing but unluckily it has an effect. When it's among my only criticisms though you still know you've made great music.

Sua música me trouxe esperança novamente!
