it's just absurd this song didn't get a golden globe nomination. john hawkes is stunning.

The ending was awesome! We as the audience were supposed to feel what Martha will always feel: the paranoia of not knowing whether or not the cult will be following her.

I loved this movie....truly masterful. Although it was so simple, it was truly scary- I was shaking for lots of parts, and really disturbed other times.Oh, and this song is really great.

I remember watching this movie, and this song changed everything, because it made me understand how Martha fell for him and that was a make-or-break-moment in the movie. If the viewer doesn't get behind that, then she's just foolish and you stop caring about her. But because he sings to her in the way he does, you get it and you fall in love with him alongside her, and you get hurt the way she does. It's brilliant.

this movie is amazing, just like the song. it's not one of those movies you should watch while you're doing something else. it's neither one of those movies you should watch to have fun. you have to concentrate on it and in my opinion these are the best ones. it's very touching und inspires you to think about life and whatever. please don't let discourage from negative reviews. if you think you would like it watch it! and hell yeah, this song is so awesome. it just represents john hawkes charm.

it's definetely a movie that doesn't appeal to everyone. but i was also very interested in it as soon as i saw the trailer and it didn't disappoint me. if you think think the genre and the topic is interesting i think you'll probably like it. it's a very calm film and i think it's rather art than entertaining. if you mostly watch action films or comedy i don't think it's something for you, but actually you can't lose something so maybe you should just watch it and form your own view on it. ;)

The fact is that there's no end and that's because even in real lives our struggling for ourselves hasn't any universal ending. I think the director wish you to end his film with your interpretation.Maybe this song is a sort of meaning line.The whole film it's like a picture because a picture implies someone who's looking at it putting his or her feelings inside it_That makes you believe that those feelings aren't your own, but of the picture itself I'm convinced that this film is a piece of art

@TaAl1990 the majority of the public (more specifically the American public) are too stupid to understand films like Martha Marcy May Marlene. They prefer to watch movies (action, rom coms, chick flicks ect.). It is sad that films like these are not fully appreciated. There is a difference between movies and books vs films and novels. Not many people are educated enough to enjoy the latter.
@HOUNDDAWG12 жыл бұрын
Well, suppose you love someone who has died (or left you) and all that's left is her picture on the wall and broken dreams of what you once had and wanted together? That's the stuff that folk songs are made of - memories and metaphors. Read Jackson C. Frank's bio and think of a dead school girl.
