💞 I'm playing catch up. First off, you did not FAIL, you had a learning experience, AND you could always cut those down to ATC size. Very cool backgrounds to start with for ATCs. 💞 💞 Second...I signed up for your newsletter so I will know when your store is officially open. 💞 💞 I am so excited for you, my friend. You deserve every success. You are such a positive soul and so giving, caring, and willing to share every tip and trick, and all that you've learned along your journey. 💞 💞 Third...a good website that runs smoothly and easily for customers to use takes time to put together. We know that. Yes, we are excited and impatient, but we will always wait for you to make it to your satisfaction. You are always worth waiting for, my dear, sweet, friend. 💞

Marta - Just an FYI - alcohol inks dry quickly. They work best on non-porous materials like yupo, ceramic tiles, glass, etc. Also, before tossing the pieces you think are "fails", try spraying rubbing alcohol on them. It might re-activate the ink and "lighten" it up a bit. I hope this helps. By the way, I think they aren't fails. If anyone can find a way to experiment and make it work, YOU can! Good luck!

You are almost the only one who shows the "failed" projects. Not every crafter on KZbin shows when it doesn't go as planned. I like that about you, because it shows that it isn't a big problem if your project doesn't turned out the way you hoped for. That is something that happens to me quite a bit. But as you said! " throw it away an begin a new one!! It isn't a big problem".

My 3rd grade teacher said: "If you learn something from it, it's not failure." That was well over 50 years ago, and I remember it to this day! Your "failures" can be cut up into tags and other ephemera, and you've learned a LOT about alcohol inks (and I've learned that I'd better stick with my trusty watercolors!). I love your videos, your chit-chat, and I love to learn new things! Thank you, Marta!

Marta, I had to pause the video to tell you not to throw them out. They are not failures. Like you said, try adding white gesso or spray them with alcohol or drop alcohol blending solution on them where you want it to flow more. I think they are beautiful. Now I will watch the rest of the video and see what you are doing next! Happy birthday, Hannah!

Hey Marta, it was me who told you about the scissors :-) I hate to fuzzy cut scrapbook paper with it, but it's fine for double-sided tape. I never tear the stuff. Btw: I love your collages. You always grab a little bit of everything and the end-result looks amazing. And I absolutely disagree with you in one point: You did NOT fail. Art can not fail at all. You might not like the result, but others might do. For example, I love the purple one with the birdie :-)

Marta these are great pages. I've used alcohol inks and have found it the surface is slick the move great . I haven't used water just alcohol to make them move better. Transparencies work good, tiles anything with a smooth surface. I just experimented til I found what I liked. Thanks for sharing 😊♥️👍

The thing I just love about you is how you encouraging everyone to stretch themselves. Crafting is about having fun and enjoying yourself. Every craft should begin as a learning experience, trying to expand one horizons. You are the best therapy for unhappy crafters who are frustrated with themselves and their crafts. I have found if you have a disaster and it does not come out the way you want. Sometimes you can cover the mistake with something else, or try to make it into a new creation.

Hi Marta beautiful as always. The alcohol inks do behave very differently on different surfaces. They will barely move and soak straight into most papers but will move and blend on more slick, smoother surfaces X

Marta thank you for your courage in trying new things. I have found that if you use at least 91% isopropyl alcohol rather than water you will have better success with dark colors. However, you have given me the inspiration to try water with certain projects. Each color can act differently due to the opacity and pigment density some move more than others. I LOVE LOVE LOVE alcohol inks and have had plenty of "failures" before I found those special ones that make me squeal. Your finished projects were great! Love you!

Glad to hear Emily is well again. Great pages. So pretty. I have some of those papers, I should dig them out soon. My first mixed media I used the alcohol inks and blended them with acrylic paint. It made neat coordinating blends wherever I used it on the canvas. I also made sprays with it, not a good idea. The over-spray stains everything.

I'm just popping in a year later to say I think they're beautiful. Alcohol ink is a specific creature that needs a blender pen (usually acetone) or plain alcohol to manipulate it most effectively. Water works fine, as we see here, but the ink lays down a lot of pigment fast, and the alcohol evaporates. Don't give up on them, Marta! It wasn't anywhere near a failure, rather an experiment you did with us, and for us. Thank you❤️

I would not say you failed, if you were just experimenting to see how the inks worked. Please do not throw then out, you are very clever at being able to turn these pieces into something fabulous as you always do. You done a great job and you are very skilled at overcoming your 'mishaps' I've seen you recover loads in the past and always make beautiful pieces of art work. I'm not in any way trying to be rude but I was just thinking that maybe if you tried the blending solution instead of water the result may be different. Something you may just like to think about if you decide to give this another try, which I really hope you will. Also sending Hannah virtual birthday hugs from Scotland.

There are loads of ways to use alcohol ink. You can color a pearl, and small metal objects. Take some alcohol ink background and cut them up into shapes, circles or hearts etc. Make various other backgrounds by putting drops of alcohol inks along with blender solution on the felt pad then pounce or pull through on alcohol friendly paper to make other type of designs. You can also use a straw to blow ink you drop on your alcohol friendly paper. It comes fun to play with and often inspiring.

I am going to try backing my pieces from today with the glossy side of Lean Cuisine boxes. Maybe the ink will not go through that. You are considering butterflies at the moment. I love butterflies too. I started with my inks when you did. I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I am going to order more inks and more doilies. I have used them up. I have yellow, blue, red, and green inks. I will add pink and purple at least. Marta, make sure you spray with water right after you drip on your alcohol inks. Now I am using no images. Definitely better. Gilding flakes are awesome, but I need to get some more ideas on how to use them. I have a special brush for the flakes...it is a stipple brush.

Fabulous Marta. Amazing the difference between the two that you finished (which are awesome) and the two that didn’t work so well. Alcohol inks work primarily on non-porous surfaces (Yupo, plastic, acetate, metal, transparencies, etc.) or porous surfaces with a glossy finish (glossy card stock, glossy photo paper, etc.). You can mist with rubbing alcohol to help spread them since you can't spray the blending solution.

LOL So much fun to watch you try new ideas. Maybe it would help to know that alcohol inks are meant to be used only on non-porous (glossy) paper, glass, plastic, yupo, metal. The clear gesso might have not fully covered areas of your papers and thus stained the paper instead of flowing on the paper. It’s not meant to be used with water, but you never know unless you try. Also, what if you use alcohol blending solution instead of water? Just don’t put it in a spray bottle as it will clog up the spray. You cal also use alcohol ink with stencils. 😁
