Hummie Mann mentioned in that interview that the song's melody was written with a woman in mind, until Britt Allcroft suggested a man should sing the song at the movie's introduction, since it's first heard immediately following Mr. Conductor's narration, and Maren Ord had already recorded it by that point. Since she apparently had to belt out the song at the peak of her vocal range (she can hit a G in falsetto, as she said in an SiF interview), there's very few men in Toronto who can sing in that kind of range.

This unlocks so many memories for me. I was born after this movie came out, and this was my introduction to Thomas. Yes I watched the show and had the wooden Thomas trains, including Diesel 10 and two versions of Lady. I never understood why the movie got so much hate as time went on (I know it was because test audiences essentially downgraded the story), but this movie will always hold a special place in my heart and Lady-canon or not-will always be one of my favorites.

I remember watching some episodes of Thomas and friends back when I was a kid and since I was 6 years old, and back then I didn't understand that much, wasn't too smart like how I am right now, and I didn't know that much about Thomas and friends until now either, and when I grew older and moved to different schools over the past years I forgot everything from Thomas and friends, but then one day about a couple of months ago this year(2023), I found a video of one episode of the series, I watched it and then I started watching episodes I know of from my Thomas and friends series DVDs and even episodes I haven't seen before and I started learning things from Thomas and friends which I haven't before and as an 18 year old boy watching stuff about something he used to love, hasn't watched in years, and in secret from his own family who would always judge whatever he watches on TV based on his age like some people, and it was really amazing that for me. And I just got watch Thomas and friends: Thomas and the magic railroad just about 2 months ago(in September) and man, I remember learning and seeing everything from this movie so many years ago and right now that I'm smart and in high school and everything, I get to finally understand what people in the movie say and everything, and some of the characters who were in this movie like Lady, and the twin Diesel engines Splatter and Dodge I feel like I wish came back into the series like Diesel 10 did in the eighth season starting in the best episode "calling all engines" and even bring other old characters from the past like Murdoch, Neville, Hank, Flora, Molly, Dennis, Boco and more, all into the seasons of when Thomas and his friends could talk with their own voices and all that stuff and especially for people who miss their favorite characters in the series too. And another thing, this song of the movie is the best, it's like you can hear one of your favorite singers and ones who are also actors like Mandy Moore for example singing this song, still this song is the best and that's all that matters.
