Life is a “Meaning-making activity" she profoundly said. ”Strive day and night and do whatever is possible that perchance you may awaken the heedless, give sight to the blind, bring life to the dead, refresh the weary, and bring those in despair and darkness to light and splendor. - Divine Philosophy, Baha'i Faith

I had the opportunity to hear Margaret Meade speak when I was a grad student at the University of Rochester back in the mid-1960's.

2:45 you got the purpose of the study wrong. The purpose was to support the activist political view that race was not the deciding factor in behavior and to help discredit and revolutionize set mores of anthropology at any cost.

Ok, this "teaching" sounds proffound and meaningful and to some extent it is but problem here with Ms Mead is she never get to feel satisfied with her life and her life choices. Proof of that is most of her work is designed to beat down on western society and culture, on purpose. Just her work on Samoa is controvertial at best and manipulated at worst. Her work on Sex and Temperament was disqualified by a female fellow Antropologist in her own era, the Tchambully weren't EVEN CLOSE to what Ms Mead stated on her book. Now, Ms Mead was well intented I understand, she saw the flaws in western culture and wanted to learn and push for change from what other cultures and societys had achieved. Problem there is at the very least the scale and isolation. Ms Mead researched on isolated and small cultures, that alone shows there's no big viable culture based on her "role twisted/reversed" standards that can survive while in contact with other different cultures, why? because it's not natural; just a few cultures here and there show different gender roles, like the Amazones ore Lesbos, and they are all isolated 'cause otherwise they perish. Same goes for annimals, the ones that show abnormal gender behaviour perish or live under special circumstances. That is another BIG flaw in Ms Meads work, she apparently was little interested in HOW this societies came to be, what's their history and under WICH circumstances they became like that, that's of paramount importance 'cause otherwise how can we decide if it is conveniento to us or not. There's much more to say but this is already too long. Investigate by yourselves what other areas in science have to say about gender and sex, one dobius paper isn't enough to fuel that big of a change is society.
