I just watched this movie on HBO and I loved it. One thing I loved was how real the dialogue was. People don't express themselves perfectly, not everyone, even intelligent people, are perfectly articulate, and when you hear realistic dialogue like this you realize how phony and "neatly wrapped up" the writing is for most movies. I found this movie completely absorbing - (I could easily watch an-going series with these characters) and moving. Why don't movies like this get more attention?!!!

if you're not a movie person and don't like 3 hr movies don't see it. it's in depth and the characters are so phenomenally developed, scenes are kindly crafted together and you end up on the side of this hateful teenager who lives on the upper west side. it's about margaret, not necessarily about an accident happening, it's about her reaction to it and how it changes the world around her and her, forever. REALLY good movie, 5 stars!

If you actually bothered to see this challenging, emotionally wrenching and extremely well-written film instead of sticking to stale preconceptions, you would actually find out that it does not position Anna Paquin's character as a 'heroine' of any sorts-- in fact, nothing in it is as black or white. It is more than implied that her (inherently wrong) idea of a way to make things 'right' is simply a selfish way to cope with the fact that she is ultimately responsible for this woman's death.

I saw this movie today... and it's so much profound and complex than what this trailer makes it look like. And Anna Paquin gives the best performance of 2011, by far. pd: This movie was filmed in 2005, but they have problems with the post-production, so just last year was officially released.

If you wondering if this movie is worth watching, then no. The film lasts two hours and a half. The first twenty minutes are interesting, relevant but that's all. A lot of scenes aren't necessary and don't bring something to the movie. The story is kind of predictable, except for one or two details. Basically it is a girl crying, disoriented about the accident. She begins emotionally brutalizing her family, friends, teachers, and herself. She doesn't know what to do and wants the bus driver to feel guilty as she is. She engages a procedure to fired him but obviously it fails. End of the story.
