Pirates of the Carribbean is nothing without Johnny Depp. Even if Disney claims that the reason they fired him from the franchise was because they had exhausted all the avenues that the character of Jack Sparrow could expand into, and now need to move in another direction..that makes absolutely no sense. Because the POTC premise itself is literally nonexistent without Capt. Jack Sparrow...they will never be able to revive POTC without Johnny Depp.

It was pretty messed up for Disney to fire him from POTC, 3 days after Amber wrote the op-ed article claiming he was abusive towards her. What Gore meant, was that Johnny Depp could get leading roles in other movies if he wanted them. He was already popular and well known before Pirates. But Depp doesn't play the typical heart-throb leading man or the hunky hero type, he plays characters that are weird, quirky and often outcast by society. Depp likes exploring characters that are atypical and unique, whether or not they are a leading role or not. Kind of like when he played Tonto in The Lone Ranger, or Grindlewald in Fantastic Beasts.

One of the best method acting roles ever played. even if depp would make 20x crap movies after potc he still wouldn’t be able to discredit his own legacy. Things like heath ledgers joker, Christopher waltz’s Hans Landa from englorious bastards(very heavely underrated and decorated imo) or Ian mcdiarmid’s palpatine to a somewhat leaser extend(but still great) are actors who REALLY transcend from playing that character to BEEING that character. I will always see mcdiarmid as palpatine, I will always see Christopher waltz as Hand Landa, and I will always see depp as jack sparrow because they turned those roles into 100% art. that’s why I didn’t quite like depp’s performance in Willy wonka, Alice in wonderland etc, because he’s just to much jack sparrow to me, because he played it TO good. That’s what makes it legendary.

An actor who has a career that spanned decades, whose only scandals (if it's a scandal) are his relationships was destroyed by a starlet. I can only imagine how hurt and devastated Johnny Depp was when Disney dropped him and he lost so many acting opportunities. He rarely gives interviews. Unlike Jake Sparrow he's not a gregarious person in real life. I daresay he's an introvert, highly artistic (he paints, he sings and plays the guitar) and never thinks of himself as very handsome. He is. I first saw him on Nightmare on Elm Street. He also has his demons and addictions. But not a whisper of violence has ever been attributed to him, or that he's hard to work with. People believed Amber when they should have believed Winona or the mother of his children.
