Just watched the video and have to say, it is the best one i have seen on paste fishing. Out here in sunny Spain, we have a 'commercial' style of fishery and one chap fishes paste all the time and catches well in matches....I prefer pellet, but do recognize that paste, down the edge late on in the match, could reap rewards...so thank you for the video.

Don't fish commercials anymore, but as always another informative master class performance, always enjoy your videos. Have a question for anyone who understands. Why do people put Dacron connectors on backwards to stop water/ crap going in pole and then dip pole end in water whilst stretching elastic to lubricate it? Seems to be defeating object of keeping crap out of pole tip to me? Maybe I'm just thick?
@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t put my dacron on backwards to stop crap. Didnt realise that was a reason why some do it. It’s just a much better fit for the way I do my dacrons. Regularly Swishing elastic to lubricate it is also absolutely essential for me. When you play fish the elastic is in and out in the water anyway. 👍

Thats exactly the way I fish paste John. So effective, many venues have banned it or use the rule that paste can be used but not cupped in, only allowed to swing it in on the hook, which defeats the object of paste fishing. Great to see you out and about again. Give up work and do more videos thats what I say.

Another fantastic, well filmed informative video Jon, thanks! So many options how do you decide when it’s worth fishing paste would be my question??
@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Warmer times of year usually and when the fish are misbehaving on other baits and being a bit too clever, rejecting harder particles on the hook. Too many fish in the peg I might avoid paste. Fishing more than 8m away it's harder too. Its always difficult making the right choice on the day.

i make my own paste of a tin of sweetcorn and blitz up the sweetcorn with a spoon full of very mild curry paste for a little bit of heatness and used loads breadcrumbs and to make it tough paste and leave it in the fridge over night to firm up a bit more. and use it and it stays on the hook for about 10 to 15 minutes before i have to put on some more.. and if the fish dont want it then you can take it home and fry it up and make sweetcorn burger
@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I don't think I could ever wait 10 minutes on paste for a bite though! If it's not gone after 2 mins I'm back in and out. Regularly doing that with the softest paste possible creates maximum attraction.
@MrNeilb373 жыл бұрын
@@JonArthur correct it will stay on your hook for 10 minutes ,,but in that time you can feed other areas with pellets and build up that area and look out to of the surface to carp that maybe swimming around and you can see where they are and go and plan you next fish and while you baiting up the area next to you there only time you get a bit is when the pole moves and then change to you baited area up and fish there and feed the first area you fish that way you feed and let it rest untill 10 minutes and then you fish there afterwards so you alternating your fishing spots
@chrisgirling10973 жыл бұрын
Brilliant informative video again Jon, this is my favorite style of margin fishing. I alternate with a few grains of sweetcorn in the cup, I do occasionally suffer with ghost bites a positive dive of the float but nothing there when I lift the pole ?

I always do one part ground bait, one part water. And add the ground bait to the water, mix well. Then allow to stand 15 mins. Like yourself I use the bait to cock the float, no shot. I also tend to use 4mm soaked pellets, or even 6mm for cupping in. I feel they don't waft around as much on the bottom decreasing liners and foul hooking when fish are grubbing around. Just my preference though.😮

I've been fishing similar for tench on a club water with a bit of success but with stiffer paste . Little fish peck at it and you have to be patient and wait for bigger fish to arrive. I've found paste made from micros works well . I could not fish your venues , it's too hectic. . Wonder if the sloppy would work . I'll try it.

Not exactly on topic , but I just found out about Chinese anglers fishing for carp with paste , using whips - wouldn't be a bagging method for matches I would think as its hook and hold - some blokes use it here in France , the paste would need to be stiffer for swinging out I guess , French bloke using it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaXTl5ijib5phLM long fine tipped floats fished waggler style with tiny float attachments. Super angling there sir - I had to adjust the contrast on my monitor due to the reflection/flare off your knees :)
@JonArthur3 жыл бұрын
Yes I actually fished with Mr Yi from China (Old Ghost) at Cob House Fishery and he used a long extra string whip and their paste technique. They use a very light and fluffy ‘potatoey’ paste unlike our fishmeal and extra long floats. Lots of vids online if you search, but its a very traditional technique with strict principles and I think no match for the English style where allowed.
