EXACTLY. To the people who shame her or call her "ungrateful", no. Sweeping sins and bad behavior under the rug is ungrateful. Responding to criticism by just waving the flag as if nothing is wrong is "ungrateful". It spits in the face of the founding fathers who wrote with such possibly naive enthusiasm, and expected so much more from the United States than it has become.

This woman is amazing. Just heard her for the first time ever in studio on NPR and thought for sure it was Emmylou Harris. Good to hear someone making real "country music" instead of the modern day simpleton country music made for mass consumption and radio play. I've got a new artist to consume with the appetite of a starving puppy! The world needs more Margo Price especially during these nasty times we're forced to endure today...

the working class is the class which made this country great. Now we can barely make ends meet for our families and our communities are dying. This American dream is sadly drying up and we the workers live in the ruins of the dream waiting for the day when we can thrive again. This song calls out the reality and cost of politics in this country. Working folks love this country but hate the bs in Washington. I hope for the day when the worker can be free again and our communities have what they need.

@slus10105 жыл бұрын
We should probably leave the getting political to you right James? Isn’t your comment on this video in fact, political? Aren’t the streets you drive your car on political? I mean, they are taxed right? Hate to say it but even the device you use to comment your very insightful thoughts on other people’s art wether it’s a phone, tablet or computer is political too. So here we are James, to quote Dylan, “We live in a political world”. I don’t mean to be presumptuous but I’m guessing you take offense to the last verse being about the president being able to sleep at night? This song was written in 2014. In case you aren’t all that history savvy, that was during Obama’s rein. If you really think she’s a great artist, then let her make great art. If we lived in a world where everyone was Katy Perry and sang about rainbows and butterflies, maybe you would be happier, but I myself prefer realness, guts and good music.

Almost 11% of those who have registered an opinion of your music, do not care for it. The likelyhood is, that is due to content. Based upon that percentage, Country music stations would lose listeners if they play your music. You should take a marketing class to better understand who and how you should pitch your music to build a career.. assuming music is your goal. Wish you luck!

@@no.4333 Lmao! No.. learn to pitch what you care about to people who are open to hearing it. You want to be an activist? Then be one.. but don't get angry or sanctimonious when others protect what They care about. They have as much right to do that as you do, whether you agree with what they care about or not. Pitch your style to those who agree with you, or accept that you will not get air time.
@GarrettWorcester5 жыл бұрын
@@virginiasauk8053 I don't think it's all about the airtime and pitching music. The first time I heard this song after hearing "Hurtin'(On the Bottle)" I knew it wasn't meant for mainstream country. WMZQ up in the DC area (if they're still around) would probably give it a spin or or - sorry, showing my age - but 101.9 The Twister in Oklahoma City would ignore it and play "Hurtin," if they could get away with it. Sometimes an artist is at their best when they AREN'T playing to a wide audience. I don't pretend to speak for Ms. Price and I know I'm rambling now, but I think she has a genuine love of music with a message (civic, emotional, whatever) and if it plays or not, so be it. I knew about artist like Melissa Etheridge, the Bangles, and Julia Fordham before they went global - okay, Julia has a relatively small fan base compared to the other two, but still - and I look forward to the weather getting warmer when I can walk around wearing my Margo Price t-shirt and see what reaction I get (btw, I'm an older AA/Hispanic Male, so bonus points!). I wrote this under the onset of what I believe is the flu so again, I apologize if there's no point to my reply!
@virginiasauk80535 жыл бұрын
@@GarrettWorcester I believe you are mistaken about her intentions. She has specifically been whining on national television about the fact that she isn't getting air time. I agree with Some of what the song has to say.. but recognise that radio stations play what thier customers want to hear. A large portion of country music listeners do not agree with her message, therefore, she will not get airtime unless she changes her message or alters her audience. If these are her convictions, I suggest altering her audience. She is welcome to sing about whatever she wants. People are also welcome to not listen. My problem isn't the song, it is her whining about not getting air time. She is not entitled to it just because she wants it. :)
