Nureyev was a genius. The greatest gift to the ballet because he knew that it was incumbent upon him to leave his gifts at the alter of dance. And in doing so he changed everything about ballet. The symmetry in his partnership with Fonteyn was so exquisite - it was real and organic. Nureyev was called temperamental or mercurial but he NEVER expected more from himself than what he expected of himself. He was the greatest actor. He was a man of immeasurable gifts.

Can anyone explain to me what exactly was it that he changed in the dancing world? I didn't really understand..
@hellokitty5243 жыл бұрын
He himself said that traditionally the man was just there to support the female dancer, but he decided to take on the "woman's" role of actually being the dancer and telling a story through his dance. That was the change. The movie "White Crow" covers all of this. I imagine his biographies and documentaries speak to it as well.

That a forty+ year old ballerina was ABLE to perfectly partner a "20 something" superstar ...is, perhaps, the more astounding miracle. 🤔 In his 40s, Nureyev no longer had what Fonteyn had in her 40s & 50s.

With Rudolph his choice of life was probably responsible for his illness
@llb380 Жыл бұрын
Maybe I’m misunderstanding the sentence. What does his “choice of life” as you put it, have to with Nureyev the artist and legend of the dance world? Who are you to pronounce “responsibility” about anyone or anything? Your pathetic attempt at pontificating is beneath contempt.
