Since i saw the film The Lover , i find it so very interesting hearing in Marguerite's own words about her difficult life .I also had a very difficult childhood in East Germany under communism , i relate to her pain one can clearly detect !

Duras didn't appreciated this movie, she was sick during Jean Jacques Annaud shooting and found he had betrayed her book, so she wrote a new version and won the most prestigious french literary prize, the "Goncourt".

I loved "The Lover", both the book and the movie. I sob at the end every single time. Bravo! Wonderful to see Ms. Duras and to hear her words so fluid and revealing. I was lucky enough to find a first edition of "Blue Eyes, Black Hair". Erotic and beautiful.

But Duras don't love this movie at all, Jean Jacques Annaud the film maker reduce her book to a love affair.

She's my favorite author, but I read several of her books before I got to The Lover, and it was not a standout for me.

J ai lu la plupart de ses œuvres car ses écrits sont à mon sens remarquables, tous … et cela vient du fait que Marguerite Duras est une personne et une écrivaine exceptionnelle en phase avec la vie …

It is rather interesting that there was such a love story as this one of the early 20th century in the colony.
