In this fragment of the interview released in February 1974, Mike Wallace asks Maria Callas about her “lovers”:
MW: “You had a husband”
MC: “and I had a lover”
MW: “and you had a lover”
MC: “and that’s that”
MW: “You mean “no more”?”
MC: “O...oh...now I’m singing (embarassed laughing)”.
What did that laughing mean? Why was this sequence cutted from the remastered version of this interview? I have my own answer...
