Nicely stated with wisdom and class. Muldaur is still one very incredible singer. So the key was lowed to C so what...Still a great performance in my book and what a joy to hear her doing so well 40 years later!! Would the guy who thought she was performing from a resthome be as good at his or her craft 40 years later?

I loved this song from the very first time I heard it. The intro notes totally bring me back to sweeping the floor of the Bronx supermarket I worked at as a teenager, which really happened and made me happy when it came on the store’s speakers one time before closing. Maria Muldaur aka Maria Grazia Delmonica D’Amato sounds as great as ever.

I speculated that Maria was from the South but she’s a NYC gal. To my ears her singing has a Tony Bennett vibe and that’s a great compliment in my opinion!

Just in case anyone's forgotten or doesn't know, Amos Garret was the guitar guy on the original MATO single. It's one of those guitar solos that's appreciated (at least by guitarists) as one of the greats. He's still around; check him out.

Maria, Maria time fucking gets us all. For those of you who are to young or don't remember go to her KZbin concert in the 70's on the Midnight Special singing Midnight at the Oasis. Every single guy crushed on her big time she was the hottest hippie chick ever............................

Hi Lynn! Yes, there is life 40 years after the fact. I LOVE Maria Muldaur, "Midnight at the Oasis" came out the year I graduated from high school, I am actually BETTER 40 years later as a successful Rolls Royce dealer with many websites AND I also freelance for several auto magazines. You would be surprised. I AM the same person I was 40 years ago, only better! Next question.......?

You could tell the look on her face when that big C chord resolved at the end. She originally did this in the key of Eb I believe. She could hit the higher notes but she sounds incredible and what an amazing ear she has..We are a huge fans of hers. Too bad the camera did not get at least one good shot of that great piano player. Hey after all, the whole foundation of the song was built of those great piano chords...

Maria does a lot of blues and jazz-oriented singing now, so her voice has changed both due to time and the type of singing she does. I’d be shocked if she sang this song the way she did 45 years ago.

I'm not going to trash Maria. "Midnight at the Oasis" is one of my all time favorite songs, and it always will be. When this is your only major hit and you have to sing it as many times as she's had to, you'd mail it in from time to time too. Wasn't her best rendition, but she's still awesome.

I realize it is "a live show" I should have said that I prefer the 1974 studio version best. Her live performance you showcased makes her sound like she was howling at the moon. And YES, a guy can be master at his craft 40 years later, this goes out to the person that singled out my comment. I have several sites and I also buy and sell ultra luxury automobiles such as the Rolls Royce and Aston Martin brands to name two. I also freelance for 3 magazines 40 years later......next question?

That's good. Maybe she partied a lot back then, or didn't take care of her voice like she could've. Or maybe she stopped singing and just lived for a number of years. At any rate, it's nice to see her again.

This is three half steps lower than the original key. It too bad that she can't sing it in the original key because it sounds great in the key of Eb.

Sadly, in the music world, vocals are always the first thing to go as the years begin to take over the body. A lot of musicians actually improve with time but the years are less kind to vocal chords. No, I'm not the same person I was 40 years ago. Like a good musician, I have actually improved as a photographer over the years and continue to evolve and adapt my style and talent to the market.

Generosity of the late intermediate school principal to his fourth daughter, my sister Cynthia's preteens come to an end on a birthday gift horse. 'Dancer' paired with 'Prancer' by Maria (within the lyrics of this musical piece). Why do you have that particular personality trait only equestrians have?🐴
