All characters in that movie are great. Keith Carradine, also, is a good and important man. Maybe, John Savage was able to keep his mouth shut. But, when he hears the song...HE KNOWS THAT IT IS HIS FAULT BUT HEARING THE SONG IS TOO MUCH FOR HIM!! A PUNCH ON HIS FACE IS A GOOD DEAL! ONLY CLARENCE "BUT" UNDERSTANDS WHY HE DID THAT! I LOVE SO MUCH KEITH CARRADINE'S REACTION. HE UNDERSTANDS EVERYTHING AND HE STAYS ON THE FLOOR, LAUGHTING, AND LAUGHTING, WITH HIS GUITARE ON HIM. He's s a good man with an important role. It's obvious that the SECRET of her pregnancy has no risk to be known or repeated by her first sex lover. He is a tramp, but he is kind. And he really loved Maria. And, by accident, he appreciates her husband too! Finally, Keith Carradine has saved their couple. He told to the husband to leave the city because he felt he is depressed, and he gave to Maria what she needed. Their first BB is already accepted by her husband ( He appreciates too Keith Carradine!..more than the sergeant!!) . A great movie, with an amazing actors! Keith Carradine ' dog is also amazing to see. Pity that this movie is not well known by the public. This movie is what i call " A GREAT CINEMA"!

I watched this movie a few days ago, the film emotionally is very strong and touching, still in shock from understanding what love and how love can be. Superb actors. A good man who fucks a married woman especially if he feels something towards her does not boast about it in public. I think that no matter what they faced in their lives, they lived happy lives, all of them.

@@johnnytapia6927 In fact, he is a blusterer who is lying in front of unknown people...It is his character, when he arrives in the city with his moto his guitar, and his dog...it is clear that he appreciates her. But he is really honest with her when he asks her to leave everything and go with him. On the bar, he doesn t listen because he eats, and eats Alain, because he has no money , so when he heard that they speaks about women in general, , he told his story just to distract the table! He doesn't told the truth that he felt really in love!!!! I love John savage' attitude. He plays very well, and knows immediatly that he speaks about Maria. He is trembling, but he knows that this kind of guy is lying. ( ajout the fact that he doesn't care of her, and that he did that only for sex . He knows maria. No men can be indiffetent. He k.ows that he felt in love because he says it. :" Can you imagine ? The virgin push me out of his house! She dos that to me? And to you want to hear how she accepts to have sex with me? He looks all the people at the table and just says :" LISTEN!" FIRST, the husband accepts to listen, but he's trembling already.....at the beginning. But when the song continues, and continues....It is too much for him. Maybe i repeat myself, but only Keith Carradine understands everything when he received the punch on his face. He really doesn't laught of him. He laught because of the situation. ( And he accepts this punch on his face). They appreciates each other. ....I love this movie . KONCHALOVOSKY, ( a great director who died a few years ago have created with that movie, his best movie. It is " UN CHEF D'ŒUVRE " I don't know the term in english. All is great. For exemple, we feel how wet Maria'bed is, the rain falls, and her husband plays with a little ball on a wall, when she is drunk and she physically suffers from the lack of physical love....this short moment when she crushes some broken glasses....The music is just amazing !. Last exemple, the story is about poor migrants people from Yougoslavia, and when he decided to leave her, he is on the top of the train, and the camera films all the walls full of printed written on....The scénario, the actors, ( One of the latest Robert Mitchum 's film),, the director, KONCHALOVSKY, All ARE VERY GREAT ON THAT FABULOUS MOVIE. IT IS VERY RARE I LOVE A MOVIE LIKE THAT. Mitchum is fantastic on the movie;" la nuit du chasseur " - THE READER - THE PERFUM - ENTRE CIEL ET TERRE - THE HOUSE OF SPIRITS ( HE IS ON KZbin). I LIKE THIS MOVIE BECAUSE I LOVE ESTEBAN ' EVOLUTION - THE WINGS OF DESIRE - LA MAÎTRESSE DU LIEUTENANT FRANÇAIS - ORGUIEL ET PRÉJUGÉS - ATONEMENT ( VERY GOOD WITH KHEIRA RIDLEY) -LE PATIENT ANGLAIS ,THIS IS 1 OR 2 MOVIE I LIKED. Actually, i follow specially an actor called: ADAM DRIVER. This young man is for me, a young man to follow. He has, for me, the same talent than : JEREMY Irons, RALPH fiennes, Al Pacino, ( the godfather) Dustin Hoffman .You see i am very difficult. By the way, i forgot to mention - Little big man with dustin Hoffman. ( a movie very great because of what the old Indian says essentially) . I SAW IT ONCE BY 10 YEARS AT LEAST. And Thelma et Louise of course! If you don't see some of this movies: look first: The reader ( with Kate Winslet) (Great)!!! And ATONEMENT. (GREAT TOO!) ( reviens moi : french title). - The parfum : like Maria's lover, this movie has not be well known by the public. I disagree. It is good. The music has been composed par Berlin symphonie orchestra. I M SORRY. BUT TO SPEAK ABOUT MARIA S LOVERS ( A MOVIE I LOVE SO MUCH MAKE ME THINK AT SOME OF THEM I LOVE TOO! GOOD NIGHT ! I LIVE IN NICE, AND IT IS LATE IN FRANCE. Sorry again.
