Mariachi Grulla de Plata, Grulla High School, Rio Grande City, TX MVE27

Mariachi Grulla de Plata of Grulla High School took the stage with determination and pride as they competed in the 27th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National Group Competition on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Out of twenty competing groups that participated in the high school category, Mariachi Grulla de Plata was one of six mariachis selected to advance to the prestigious last round of competition known as High School Group Finals. As the first notes resonated from their instruments, they kicked off their memorable performance with gusto as they started their "Tema" into "Fiesta Charra" and ended with the powerful "México, Mi Nación" that featured solos from each instrument section and an incredible range of vocalists.
Mariachi Grulla de Plata was awarded 2nd place in the National High School Group Competition by members of the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. Mariachi Grulla de Plata is part of the RGCG Mariachi Program from Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District and under the direction of Alfonso Rodriguez.
