The Lion here was made to look similar to how lions look in a lot of African art and sculptures and I think it was a thoughtful and faithful way for Chanel to incorporate the lion theme into this collection seeing that it was inspired by Senegal. I think respecting the cultural inspiration of this collection is really important whether people like the bags or not.

I noticed that the new president of a Chanel is Leena Nair, which to me could be a nod to more representative will African and south Asian influences moving forward : my theory - the length of the skirts and coats are so modest which I adore

I think you have to keep in mind that this is an African inspired collection as it was the first runway show in Africa... if you think about it the collection is very well executed colors/textures the bags that you liked were the typical chanel ones that dont exactly reflect the "African vibe" such as the 31 and crystal 22...

Yes I agree. This was actually a monumental show and a very big deal. I think it would be nice for people to look into the background of collections more. It was actually called CHANEL-DAKAR as well and the First Lady of Senegal was present for the show.

Exactly! That’s what I meant! This is a huge deal in terms of collections and I think Virginie executed it very well! I would say it’s a well rounded collection and should be appreciated for that and not look for typical designs that are part of every collection such as baby blue classic flap! The beaded bags are absolute works of art as well as the wooden details and the woven leather mini 22! Over all this is my absolute favourite collection Chanel came up with since SS19

They tried really hard to give something different, but I can’t help feeling like Chanel are having an identity crisis. Channeling some BV, Schiaparelli and perhaps even Gucci. I would only really invest in 20% of what I saw. Thank you for sharing with us!

Hi @Maria Draganova, you look stunning with that beautiful jacket and through out the video, I couldn’t helped myself looking at all the bags that look great with your jacket lol. Personally, I love this African inspired collection! IMHO they are so many different prints, colors and styles to please everyone 😅. They are a lot of bags you didn’t show and some colors as well. For the regular minis with top handles another pink is coming, in the video and pictures I got looks a lot like the Hermes rosé du desert color❤. Last but not least, loveeeee the denim jacket, jeans and even the 22 bag omg❤😂

I love your videos Maria but I personally think Chanel have lost the plot. I used to love them too but the price rises have put me off. I guess they won’t shed a tear though. No original ideas since Karl died. The 22 looks like balenciaga’s bin bag. The khaki and the brown colours remind me of poo. I was going to buy a. Chanel 19 WOC but they are £3.5k now so I’d rather buy a proper and bag from Dior where the customer service is so much better. I had a glass of champagne there today even though I had said I wasn’t looking to buy today.

Thank you Maria! I have to say, these fall colors are not my favorites. A few are okay., most to me are ugly. The fabric bags, I agree with you, not that great. *sigh*. I have been a lifelong fan of Chanel, but this new designer, I just don’t like what she is doing. At all. My favorite things were the black loafers, the chunky heel round toed loafers and the ballet flats. My favorite bags were the sequined 22, the pale pink mini flap and the blue mini flap.
