Why do people always act like man can't get harassed too. It's sexist and wrong to think that any/every guy is ok with be touched by women when they don't want it. Not every guy is attracted by every girl they see. Just because you find Mariah Carey attractive doesn't mean he does.

Optimistic Element Oh stfu with that bs, you know damn well its not the same. The numbers dont even come close, a male being harassed is rare. How often do you meet a female stronger and bigger than you that makes you take your clothes off, forcefully? Nobody is saying males being harassed isnt a thing, but indeed its not common. In this case its not even real harassment taking into consideration they have known each other for 2 years. Maybe she was just too comfortable with him, thats it.
@_epic_dyslexic_7 жыл бұрын
Exactly, and not just her looks I bet the way she treats people and acts has alot to do with it and that goes for anyone, in all these situations of "Oh but they are so good looking!" Bottom line is if a man cannot get away with a certain behavior without it being deemed inappropriate, sexual harassment or assualt the same goes for women. That is how equality works. Can't pick and choose what kind of equality we want.
@thatdolphinkid7 жыл бұрын
AlanChavezDawg a female doesnt have to be bigger and stronger than a man to harrass him lmao. she cpuld have more power than him in terms of controlling what can happen in his life if he doesnt do whatever the secual act she wants him to do, just like youve heard of all these bug actirs and producers being accused lately, fmeale celebrities can do the same thing. strength isnt the only factor in terms of harassing someone, plus they'd get judged and made fun of for even coming out about it publicly so it makes it even harder for other guys to come out about them being harassed too

This is more of a shakedown by the company. It's a common strategy to "troll" a person with a lawsuit in order to get a generous settlement. Pending lawsuits can prevent Mariah from getting multi-million dollar contracts and business deals because public relations, increase insurance premiums, hefty lawyer fees, and damage her image completely, so it would be in her best interests for her to settle as soon as possible. I completely believe the allegation, women can harass men too (how would you feel if a potato-face women started coming onto you), however I doubt the former security guard was legitimately disgusted or damaged by the "harassment".

I don't understand why he's not also filing a lawsuit for defamation of character if she's allegedly saying what she is about him & the company. That's affecting his livelihood too. Which makes me question his claim because that's a very serious thing to just overlook. Especially when the person doing it is so influential because how she was dressed, that's how she always dresses but for her to then call him out & make public accusations, that's not appropriate, if it's happening. She shouldn't be allowed to get away with it if it's not true but maybe it is if he's not doing anything about it?

The fact that Bart, David, and Anthony were discrediting the man’s story, saying how it was a story of “seduction” and just the fact that they were saying “he was complaining about this?” And “all other security guard are going to look down on him” is pretty disturbing to me. Also when Tiff asked about role reversals and David was like “oh well that’s not the point we’re trying to make.” It just makes me slightly disappointed when people I love to watch and listen to, people I look up to, say things like this and completely disregard somebody’s story of harassment just because the person harassed was a man Edit: oh shit even Joe and Tiff added to that :/

Un1234l but if a dude did that and asked a woman to put away his things while he wore next to nothing, it would be an issue. Always in the reverse before saying it’s fine. Not sexual assault but still not asked for. Like Louis CK didn’t assault anyone and just jerked off yet he’s getting more shit for that then Mariah. She didn’t jerk off but still made the guard uncomfortable.
@Un1234l7 жыл бұрын
No, context matters. If a male model known for wearing revealing clothing all the time had his security detail come be a personal assistant to help move furniture, it wouldn't be considered scandalous. And Louis CK did something of an overtly sexual nature: masturbation. That's completely crossing the boundary of what any reasonable person would consider to be acceptable behaviour.
@happyhello10007 жыл бұрын
It is sexual harassment because he didn't want to see her naked. I mean yeah I get she really didn't do anything else but he was uncomfortable with seeing her that way. This is why men are afraid to speak out because their cases are always pass off as "oh that's not sexual harassment" or "wow you're lucky" . But yeah she could have done much worse.
@Un1234l7 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, there are clear guidelines on what constitutes sexual harassment. These guidelines are in place so that there is some measurable and objective definitions to refer to, in order to fairly examine any claims. If we really take to heart your suggestion that making someone "feel uncomfortable" is all there is to sexual harassment, then someone uncomfortable with hugging could file sexual harassment against their Southern colleague, whose entire upbringing and culture involves hugging with strangers. Or having a mentor getting them to be less shy around the opposite sex; "but I'm too uncomfortable". Or having a person of the opposite sex working in the same room as them; "but I'm too uncomfortable." This reminds me of a sadly not-untrue joke: "911 what's your emergency?" "Please send someone over to [x]! There's a 5'11 black man outside the street looking like he's up to no good!" "Okay, ma'am, we'll send someone over. What is he doing? Does he have a weapon on him? Is he breaking into a home or car?" "PLEASE. He's a black man walking in our neighbourhood!"

If it was going to court then it helps to build a character case against the person who you are accusing to show that they have a bad/shitty character. You are trying to build a character profile that helps your case. Therefore, to help convince the court that she is the type of person that would try and weasel out of paying for their services, it would help to bring to light all these other character flaws in an attempt to make the initial accusation seem par for the course when dealing with her. Which would in turn make it easier for the court to rule against her.

There are plenty of laws on the books governing interactions between Employers and employees. The fact that she is the employer does put her in the position of power ( that power being she can hire or fire this team as she wishes). But she is also responsible as the Employer to not put her employees into positions that take any kind of advantage of them, to demean them, to do things outside their job descriptions and to not have to make choices about perceived sexual advances. Her being hot and a celebrity does not change any of that. Someone mentioned that it was her room, I agree and it was also Winestien's ( spelling ) room that his infractions often occurred in. If you invite or request the presence of an employee, you do not put them in a position of seeing you naked or half clothed, as it is unethical and immediately forces the employee to have to start making choices that are not job related. There may be more to the story, but the cut and dry of it is, as an employer, she fucked up, and she is being called on it. It's sad that this guy feels he has to add on all these other incidences because he fears no one will take the lone accusation seriously..... but in truth, he is correct, because everyone is quick to joke and make him out to be lesser than... kind of like when a woman attempts to report rape. Thanks Tiff for trying to make the obvious comparisons here. Often, you are the light in the storm.

im disappointed they didn't take this more seriously and use it to address the fact that there are men out there who have been sexually abused and it being made fun of in the same way they did. This was a great opportunity to address a real issue that is often swept under the carpet. A few months ago, i was sexually assaulted by a female colleague, after having one too many drinks i wasnt able to make the journey home, so me and the two people i was drinking with went back to one of their houses, i spent 10 minutes with my head in the toilet before going upstairs to sleep, to awaken a few hours later with my track pants having been pulled down and her performing oral sex on me. At the time i was in a relationship (not that i'd have allowed it to continue if i wasnt) and told her to stop, that i didnt want it, and that i was in a committed relationship, she tried to continue until i forcefully pushed her off of me... and then because i was still in a bad way i went back to sleep, to wake up 2 hours later to the same thing happening, so i got my stuff and left quickly. Told someone where i work of the incident and word got around to the point where i had to speak to management before someone else did. my GAY manager's first response was 'are you sure you weren't just drunk?' followed by 'i have a girl on the phone in hysterics because of this. Whilst im the victim. How many females would that line be said too if a male colleague had done the same to a female? 0. That's how many Police would have been called instantly and the male colleague arrested and charged for sexual assault, yet the main manager after this tried to make my daily life inside this job hell and still does to this day... while she faces no consequences for her actions, even lied to the managers saying that she never did that, whilst going about her day to day life like she isn't a sexual predator, now every time i see this 20 stone plus vile cretin i feel sick to my stomach that she was allowed back to work when 'she felt ready' whilst i was being made to pull 50/60 hour weeks just to keep my job. Other colleagues have even approached me saying she has admitted it to them outside of work.

There's a big fallacy in the guys' argument here. Several of the women who have been speaking up lately about sexual harassment have claimed an indirect forcement. The bodyguard in this case, just like an aspiring actress, might have thought that speaking up could cost them their career. The basal physical superiority of men is irrelevant in this case as it's not about physical resistance, the fact that the bodyguard in this case was a male does not change the fact that Mariah has a larger status and therefore larger voice to use if the bodyguard were to have spoken up.

I like Jknews, but this is why the sexual harassment double standard exists, because of the guy's views on it. Men are never taken seriously for sexual harassment claims, but when a woman claim sexual harassment, she's believed without proof and the guy is ruined, even if it's all a lie.

I can see how a guy would feel that a strong powerful woman could "humiliate" a man. But honestly, I don't think Mariah would go for a man worth less than her ex. Like that bitch too damn bouji. I think this dude is just pissed that theres a woman who makes him feel emasculated.

*Male gets harassed* "Lol, man-up." "What a blessing" *Female gets harassed* "She's doing it for attention. It's fake" How about we fucking give these people some respect and let the judges make the decision of what's real and what's not. Anyone who goes through any level of harassment deserves the respect to know that them feeling upset and violated is valid, regardless if you're a man or a woman. Stories like this are meant to help open dialogue about people being more comfortable coming forward about reporting sexual harassment, not to fuel our entertainment.

Did anyone in the comments even watch the whole video through, Joe and David recognize there is a double standard and that wasn't what they were mainly concerned about

I mean it all comes down to ethics. If he didn't want it then what is it called by definition? Not picking sides just being devils advocate.
@Un1234l7 жыл бұрын
mikethepreacher Whether he wanted it or not, his story doesn't fit the criteria for sexual harassment. Nothing sexual was said and done. She didn't touch him, or sexually proposition him, or threaten him with a negative outcome unless he complies with her advances, or demean his character solely based on his sexual appeal. Therefore it is not sexual harassment.

If a guy asked a woman to come and help him with something and then flashed her it'd be a complete different story! If he felt uncomfortable and she didn't stop she is just as bad as the others
@LMason-qd7sq7 жыл бұрын
regardless of gender, situation, etc if its unwanted its harassment edit: so it may depend on the person and situation; for example Joe, Bart, and David wouldn't be concerned, but other men might be

jessie ponet Proof? No evidence for or against. You can’t make that statement without evidence to back it up.
@Un1234l7 жыл бұрын
taoist40 The burden of proof is on the accuser. He had already said his story. Even if truthful, his story did not match the criteria for sexual harassment.

i know joe's a lil crazy and i know deep deep inside he's a good person, but the fact that he said if the women was ugly then maybe i'll sympathize with the man more. At least he was being honest but that just really made me sad. I'm a female, and if men don't want it then they dont want it. there shouldn't be a double standard period.
