Those are some of her highest whistles she peaks at F#7 (F Sharp 7). The highest whistle she has ever done is Bb7 (B flat 7) which is a half note below C8 the first note in the 8th octave. Her staccato notes are the best in the game. Nobody does staccato like Mariah, except for opera singers.

@@JackReacts904 he's talking about range and octaves Octave goes like this C C# D Eb E F F# G G# A Bb B Everything with # reads like sharp. C sharp , G sharp Everything with b reads like flat E flat B flat Every seminote is higher than the previous one . The last octave on a piano is 8th octave) As you can see Mariah's highest note Bb7 which is really close to the end of the piano, and the lowest is F2. Iook at piano keyboard, you'll see that Mariah's range goes through 5 octaves) All in your mind is a great example of her high staccato whistle that shows her coloratura abilities)

@@JackReacts904 Heres a run down for you. I'm not a professional but I know a little something. Letters = Notes and Numbers = Octaves. Mariah can sing from the 2nd octave to the 7th octave which is a 5 octave range. Notes in each octave range from C the lowest to B the highest. The notes go as follow C, D, E, F, G, A, B with sharps and flats in between. Example C5 = the first note of the 5th octave and a C#5 is a half note above C5. It can also be interpreted as Db5 which is a half note below D5. Depending on the key of the song I believe. I love to sing so I studied these things a little. You should react to Mariah the Imperial Songbird. It gives you an overview of her voice. it's a really good video. It's complicated but hope this helps.

Jack, the curiosity about this song is that when Mariah did those high whistle notes (by the way, these ones are incredibly high), her voice split and produced that sound, kinda of if it's like 2 notes at the same time, she then told the producers to remove that part that she would do it again, but they really liked it and insisted that she should keep that part the way it was 'cause it would fit in perfectly! QUEEN. Other singers can't even deal with what they do when it sounds "bad", Mariah's badness is another level 😅. aaaaaaaaaaaaaand I do have to say that I was very happy when you were using some vocal terms here. Yeep, those are staccato ;)

Thanks a lot for making me feel so old… LOL… That brings back a big memory of this album for me though. 11-year-old me, as a gay boy that didn’t know he was gay yet, wanting to buy this album and getting it at the store while I was out with my homophobic father who gave me a hard time for picking it up. I was never macho enough for him. Didn’t care tho! I listened to the hell out of this album and loved every moment of it. And I still love it this many years later.

There are no skips on her Debut. Being her very first album she had to prove herself to everyone. And what a vocal showcase. I recommend you react to "Alone In Love" my favorite off her debut. Her voice is very husky and smokey. Its brilliant. Or "Angels Cry" from Memoirs next. For a Cover Song reaction from her Debut react to her Debut Showcase "Dont Play That Song". Or "Just Be Good To Me" from the (Tokyo Dome). For a Live Performance react to "I Dont Wanna Cry" (better vocal arrangement than the album version from Tokyo Dome) or Close My Eyes (The Rosie O'Donnell Show) For a music video react to "Vision Of Love" her very first music video that took multiple versions to get just right or Sweetheart (You wont regret it). 💜🌻

That chirping sound is called a thrill, not many artists are able to manage this technique, not even the woman with the Guinness World record of the highest note Georgia Brown dominates that technique. In mainstream music I have only heard Minnie Rippertone, Mariah Carey and Yma Sumac been able to use this technique. Yma Sumac was a Peruvian born singer with a 5 octave vocal range (similar to Mariah) but was never trained or classically trained even after she was discovered. She lived in the Amazon forest and learned to imitate the sounds of the forest so that's why she was able to perform thrills perfectly. She was actually a descent of an Incan Emperor, she was very regal, beautiful and talented. I recommend you check out her song called "El Chuncho" it's her simply imitating the noises of the forest. It is enigmatic, spookie but at the same time brilliant.

Hey Jack great video as usual. I’m not a vocal coach but I thought I’ll help you out with the different parts of the voice which might help you describe the voice when you’re reacting. So first is the chest voice. It’s the part of the voice where most people speak in and is a full sound and vibrates in your chest. Then is the head voice which is the higher register. It’s a full but high sound and you probably use it when you’re screaming. Then is the four seater which is a high sounding register but more softer and more breathier. Between the chest and the head is the mixed Voice. Which is like the chest voice it’s for sounding but hasn’t got the weight as the chest voice but not high like the head voice. Most singers use the mixed voice to belt. I hope this helps.☺️

This video is super cute! It actually made me smile, which is rare these days in such crazy times. I consider Mariah's self-titled album to be her all-time greatest work. "All in Your Mind" is what truly made me a Mariah fan decades ago, and it's still one of my top 5 favorite songs by her. If you haven't already done a review on "Vanishing" then I would suggest that one. To this day, I choke up when I hear it. YES,indeed!:) I loved it when you said you felt like you were beaten by her voice, LOL.Great expression for her power! It'd be great if you reacted to "You Need Me"- an unique song in her discography with a rock feel,"Sent From Up Above"- you will just lose yourself in the vocals and the astoundingly beautiful and haunting ballad "Alone In Love"- all from that era and from the debut album.Amazing, amazing vocals and melodies.

One of her most epic songs from her debut album and one of my favourites. She sounds so inhuman and like a bird like you said, her whistles are not from this world and that’s the reason why she’s being called “The Songbird Supreme” 🕊🎶🔥🎶 Jack next react to Mariah Carey - Sent Up from Above. It’s also from her debut album and it’s very funky and groovy, you will love it

I love Mariah !!!! Those of you who don’t know much about her beginnings Mariah wrote alll of her songs on her debut album and she made 4 consecutive number one hits off that album. Mariah writes all her songs and I think she was recently inducted in writers hall of fame.

I do believe these are her highest recorded whistles! She went higher during some performances, but this song holds her highest in terms of what's on a record.
