The girl next to me on the pediatric unit in the room next to me was a 16-year-old leukemia patient who would always play this song. I was only 3 so I didn’t know about music. I remember when this came out all the way back in 1995 when I was just a kid watching MTV after I got home from elementary school, and my dad got me the CD, Butterfly for Christmas that year and I just loved that album...and even though I was much more into grunge, alternative, rock and metal, yet it was absolutely impossible to ignore how incredibly talented she was. Her singing ability hit into the 9 octave range, which the vast majority of professionally trained singers can only Fantasize about. (And that includes opera singers.) Honestly, if you REALLY listen to her voice, especially when she did that high whisper, you cannot deny that she had such a range that made her uniquely talented. And I know I am officially old now, but God I am so sick hearing so many of today's singers using nothing but autotune and other effects that equates to nothing more than talentless wannabes.
