Mariah is truly an icon. I'm so grateful to be born in the 90s. I'm turning 27 this year. As much as I love today's music (every artist has their own contribution in a certain way), but Mariah Carey is a talent record labels can't even replicate easily. I started getting more into music (singing/songwriting) around 18 so that's when I really started getting to know her music. She was way famous before I was even born and has a christmas song as old as me! No offense MC! But I really love her artistry because she channels her struggles professionally/personally very well in her music. I mean, yes she's a diva. Most people like it and most people don't. I think its one of her qualities that helps her longetivity because she's serious about her art and business. You can't blame the woman when she's constantly compared to someone new or following a certain formula like everyone else and at this point in her career/point she does what Mariah wants. At this point in her career for her you can tell it isn't about making hits, gaining new fans, finding new trends, etc. She spent like the past 30 years building that foundation. She has a fanbase of all ages, races, cultures, and generations. That already speaks to the testament of her artistry. Whether it's her christmas concert series, her las vegas residences, or a world tour in between this woman is still going out there every year and with all her success she doesn't even have too. She's hardworking and she did not have the power of social media back then. When someone under like 18 years old nowadays mentioning about her it doesn't shock me, but again its a testament that her hardwork paid off. Even artists from the 90s (way younger than her) still have a harder time to stay relevant. She is truly a queen and talent.
