Merry Christmas is the first Christmas album, and the fourth studio album, by Mariah Carey. The album features cover versions of popular Christmas tunes and original material. Carey worked with Walter Afanasieff, with whom she wrote all of the original tracks, as well as producing Carey's interpretations of the covered material. The album contains a contemporary holiday theme, and featured "authentic, gospel flavored background vocals." Three singles were released from the album, of which All I Want for Christmas Is You went on to become one of the best-selling singles of all time.

She does sing a F#5 (the 2) at 3:19 and she makes an octave jump in the whistle to a B6 at (3:23) where does a descending scale to a D#6. Pretty spectacular range, when she starts the song off in the first verse an octave lower, going as low as E3 in chest voice, which is fairly low for a contralto and extremely low for a soprano

There’s been so many good renditions of this Christmas classic recorded through the many decades since it was written, but I must say that Mariah Carey’s rendition is one of best (top 3). That note at the end when her voice soars as she hits that high octave is legendary. I just have to stop what I’m doing and for a short moment I’m transfixed.
