you can tell something was wrong with her vocal cords at this point. she tried to hit the high notes but it came out flat and there was pain in her face. I wished she would rest her vocals from 1997-2000, the tours definitely took a toll on her vocals.

her upper register was starting to show signs of cracking. i didnt hear her being flat, just the warmth and ease she used to have in her head voice was beginning to harden. i really think that non-stop working throughought the late eighties up until butterfly PLUS her divorce from mottolla and his relentless attempts at sabotaging her career are to blame. Stress kills and he stressed her out so much her voice suffered. Yet she remained calm and collected to the public (well until Glitter). She had also been suffering with undiagnosed BPD which im guessing helped her in some ways (working nonstop) yet made her feel unstable in others.

i think 97-2000 her vocal had some sort of exhaustion bcuz of her divorce and her fighting with her then label "columbia records"... my opinion tho i am a huge fan and still love her up to this day i most appreciate her hard work ethic and changing over her life despite all that she has been thru...

B NY she had exhaustion because she was a workaholic. Of course her personal struggles must have taken a toll on her emotionally and physically, and because of that she seriously worked herself into exhaustion.
