What some people refer as Mimi's cry is perfectly exemplified in this song. The belting she is singing here has a piercing quality to it, it allows her to have huge dynamics in a song because of the huge contrast between her low chest and upperchest seems like os 2 different people. Mimi's cry has quality to it that makes her convey an emotions such as desperation in this song where she is telling her loved one that he or she is her love and she can't conceive a life separate of him or her. Almost as if she is crying but also angry to the fcmact the other person is not sympathizing to the pain is causing to her. What a marvelous song, what a marvelous singer. Often imitated, never duplicated. Her hands movements are as if she is visualizing an empty sheet music and placing the notes accordingly.

Haha I think you had your dates mixed up, because in 1993 Mariah was really a very successful artist, she had sold 58vmillion albums Worldwide after Music Box 1993, she had the most played MTV Unplugged in history, she had 8 #1 singles including the first live performance to hit #1, 2 Grammy's, and Music Box alone sold 32 million copies. Every single artist just got schooled on how to pull a 15 year old song and make it better without stripping it's essence.
