Mariah Carey voice comparison through 3 decades. Did she lose her voice?

Mariah Carey hasn't lost her voice to me. Her tone isn't as smooth or clear as it was in her heyday, but she still has the range and ability. People only say she can't sing because she always lip syncs, and try's to sing in the original style of her hits. If she truly rest her voice and train her voice more, maybe change up her style of singing. People wouldn't know the different. Her voice has matured, now Mariah just needs to let that reflect in her singing.

It is impossible to be born with nodules, she developed nodules the same way some children develop it: screaming, not drinking water... And that gives her the ability to use certain part of her chord to achieve very high notes while still maintaining a raspy tone and being able to do low notes. That's why she has her incredible range. also she actually is very talented and lucky to be able to sing through her nodules because a normal person with nodules would not be able to sing.

For her to be at the age she's at and still performing live for over 24years she's amazing she can out sing any current mainstream easily especially when she's well rested. Celine had already been worked to the brink of losing her voice by 1990. There was a concert that they had to stop halfway through because her voice just stopped working. It wouldn't make any sound other than an airy wheezing sound. They cut back a bit after that and got her a vocal coach to keep it from happening again.

Of course she DIDN'T lost her amazing voice. It's just became more 'mature' - that's all. But ability to sing all this difficult (from low to high) notes stays the same. btw, Does any1 remember how legendary Whitney sounded in ''How Will I Know'' and then many years later in ''I Look To You''. I think its natural to point out that as women get older their voices get deeper and after having kids the voice is especially affected. I think Mariah's issue is that her range has significantly shifted down in the chest and mix registers and the original keys of her songs are so hard now, and she can't just change the key because thats disappointing. Unfortunately her belt technique is very strained, heavy, and throaty so I think that's what actually messed up her voice

ASMR Dude First of all, she still showcased 5 octaves. Second of all, her mid belts have PERFECT technique: insane resonance, great breath control and no effort up to C5. Upper belts deteriorated, but she doesn't really need them, as she can still hit up to E5 in chest without holding the note (in fact she always slays the "Let me fill you heart with joy and laughter" E5 in I'll be there).

Her whistles are just as good as they ever were. I guess it makes sense because they barely involve any movement of the vocal cords, which means that nodules don't have as much chance to affect the sound quality of the note.

You're not understanding what I'm saying. When you use whistle notes, only the very edges of your vocal cords are vibrating meaning that they're barely moving. I'm not talking about how many notes she's hitting.

He said Mariah lost the ability to sound good live in the Butterfly era,and that sounding great in some occasions don't change that fact. That proves he isn't a real fan. Mariah has had far more than just a few great live vocal moments since Butterfly. For example Mariah's live vocals from 2002-2004 were better than Butterfly. Charmbracelet era had great live vocals everywhere.
