Just taking a moment to appreciate the sewing assistants. Such lovely cats

I couldn't believe the cat was so well-behaved! Most cats would be getting in the way trying to grab the materials and thread.

I have beaded several wedding gowns, and lace appliques for veils. And while I find it so rewarding, It does require a dedication few are willing to undertake. Kuddos on you.
@dawsie2 жыл бұрын
I agree, I did all the beading on my wedding dress, I was still sewing it an hour before we had to leave for the wedding and because I had lost so much weight Mom had to stitch me into the dress taking it in almost 5inches. I had been ill leading up to the wedding for months, for a while there we thought we would have to postpone the wedding but me Dr gave me something to get through the week leading up to the wedding. I am so looking forward to seeing the finished dress.🤗🤗

I do beadwork (bead embroidery to be specific) professionally for more than 30 years. Yes it takes time. There are great shortcuts to use when doing this kind of simple bead embroidery. The correct thread and the correct bead are absolutely the first steps to making a lasting garment. Not all beads can be washed or dry cleaned.

The saddest business loss of 2020 for me was the bead shop in the small town nearby. It was a very popular hobby for my grandmother/ her friends and I learned how to make quite a few things there with her. The owner was eccentric but lovely to be around. Now all we have is Walmart and hobby lobby. Or I can drive an hour and a half to civilization. We do still at least have the local quilt shop for cottons but their hours are limited these days. 😭

Your friends seem like very cool, complex people. I would expect nothing less from you. --- Was watching this in the same room as my mom, and she wanted me to tell you that she really enjoyed the music you chose. --- I was having a great time watching up all that taxidermy. Oh My God! That gave me palpitations for a second. I'm terrified of that stuff. I can handle it in this video, but in person I just hate anything that fits into the "Looks like it's Alive/Real but Isn't" category...taxidermy, wax figures...dead humans at open-casket funerals...NOPE! LOL! That lion clip was a total jumpscare.

Zinck’s is so great for when you need some cheap fabric to repair or alter theatre costumes that are a few decades old and starting to show their age, haha. And I ador The Lace Place! I’m so glad you loved it. And thanks for the ice cream recommendation! I’ll have to check it out.

I love that you included the grave hopping. I do our family ancestry and always took my kids with me. I would give a dollar for every found grave stone. The we always got a treat after we finished. Antiquing was always a fun in between stop for us.

It is so very refreshing to see you taking the time to sew this gorgeous dress so lovingly and enjoying the process! Lately, it seems like a lot of online sewists are obsessed with how many projects they can complete in a short period of time.

Holy hell! My thoughts as well. I think you hit the lace jackpot in that wonderful shop. I am loving this project; it's amazing to watch each step it takes to create such a beautiful garment. Have a wonderful weekend, xoxo's Sandie

Clicked so fast! Also wanted to add that your video have helped me. Unfortunately this week I wrongly cut some expensive fabric and had to buy more wich wasn't very nice since this mistake has moved my whole planning of of about a week. But then I remember your video and your price breakdown and tol myself that it's okay to make mistakes and to rebuy if necessary. So thank u for your work and the amount of detail you put in your videos, sometimes we just see the pretty side of projects and not the tries, fails and the amount of time and money that goes behind creating your garments or costumes.

Loved watching this - and I've been watching literally seconds at a time, as I edit my own video (my laptop just isn't up to the task so needs plenty of breaks and coaxing - watching something while I wait for inevitable "Not Responding" messages helps keep me from throwing the machine out the window). Loving the footage of the antique shops, and the piano piece behind it... I loved it because you can tell the player has both pedals down. You just... Hear the mechanism inside the upright piano and... Idk I found it fascinating, and mesmerising!

Hello Mariah, please take a bit of warning about the plastic pearls you are using on this dress. Not all pearls can make it through the dry cleaning solution. They melt down to a puddle and stick to your fabric. Please take a few of the pearls down to your local dry cleaner and have them TEST the solution on the pearls. they have a bottle of it under the counter and a rag they will dab onto a questionable fabric to test color fastness. But this can also test the plastic. I have them test the antique clothing I have them clean for me. Over the years of doing restoration work. . .you learn that paste, plastic and any embellishment that is NOT glass or metal needs to be treated with caution. You are doing a fine job of working slowly and with purpose on this gown. It is going to look lovely. You should be proud.

I’m so jealous all that lace in one place yummy, right now I am learning to make my own lace and so far I’m enjoying it. You reminded of me when I was beading all the lace for my vintage designed wedding dress😹 I am so looking forward to seeing the finished dress🤗🤗🤗🤗 It would be great if there was a link to the lace place, I’m always on the lookout for lace made from either cotton, linen or extra fine wool.

I can't speak for her, obv. But I do know she's very big on info being free for all. Noy exactly sure what you meant, but if you're sewing the dress it would definitely be fine. It's not like she owns it, lol. But I'm not sure about drawing/paint etc. It would probably be okay as, again, it's not her dress, you can draw it as much as you like.

My "sewing assistant" is no where near as nicely behaved. I'll be sitting there doing some hand stitching & it'll rip outta my hands. Then I gotta smack the cat or chase her down to get it back.
