Can you maybe suggest any topic?
@DestinyHopeLou3 жыл бұрын
Maria Khoreva of course! 🙂 The principals in training really differ in the styles. Balanchine has stuff like not putting heels down in jumps to increase speed. And the topics you covered in this video are great! SAB and summer intensives compared to the Vaganova school etc 🥰 Btw your English is so fluent and it‘s impressive how comfortable you are speaking in a language that‘s not your native language! ❤️

@@MariaKhoreva Great video Masha!! You should do a video comparing companies with someone from NYCB or ABT! Also would like to see you chat with/interview May!!
@noopy993 жыл бұрын
@@MariaKhoreva I was thinking the same. A comparison with Balanchine would be great. Also with Cecchetti. 🙏🏻 As topics I'd simply go with what you covered in your comparison with Claudia here and let Kathy, and maybe even Tiler Peck, tell what it's like for SAB/NYCB, even though you probably wouldn't mention in detail how it is at Vaganova in a new video since you already did in this video. But in addition to that you could do a comparison of summer intensives, differences in training/style, the typical set up of a morning class, myths and fun facts, challenges for dancing a balanchine piece for Vaganova trained dancers and vice versa, difference in pointe work/port de bras, ... Maybe this helps? ☺️ Thanks for sharing so much here on KZbin! ♥️

@@MariaKhoreva I would love to hear you compare the teaching styles (not just ballet styles, TEACHING styles), what backgrounds people usually come from when they attend your schools (previous education/competition experience, country, culture), how people come into contact with the schools (does everyone know about the possibility of a ballet education and career, or is it something only dancers know because their ballet teachers tell them about it? what inspires people to apply?) how much contact you had with press/media + how your schools are represented in tv shows and movies, and what position being an aspiring dancer or pro dancer gave you in your culture/country with "normal" people :)

I did Royal ballet in school in South Africa, then continued with RAD in Canada when my family immigrated. Vaganova always looks flexible at a whole different level and with more exotic artistry than Royal Academy ballet. Found pointe shoes more comfortable with RAD brands than the larger block style pointes of Vaganova.

In the 1970s there was an attempt to create a balletschool in Chile (!), in the Vaganovas tradition, i think. I was there for 3 years. I am impressed that I had the same classes as Maria (obviously I am not talking about levels, it was another time and another world). It marked me a lot. I am 60 but I have never stopped living with my "inner dancer". I will never stop training, not really. Ithink, i won a bodily feeling. I think this would of been more interesting/successful if instead of Claudia Dean who attended RBS for such a short amount of time, that Maria had spoken to someone who had gone right through the RBS - from White Lodge to the Upper- someone who then went on to be either a 1st soloist or principal of the RB. Basically someone who has had a similar experience as Maria - but in England. The conversation then could have been more about their younger school days and developing into their shared experiences dancing principal roles. Imagine if Yasmine Naghdi had been speaking with Maria or Claire Calvert...

Ms. Khoreva's English is impeccable. Did you learn that in Vaganova ? If so just that alone tells you what a great school it is not to mention how very difficult it is to excel in that school . I watched a documentary made by NHK (Japan) of life of students in Vaganova and it broke my heart to see some girls /boys get knocked out of school after being told flatly and coldly that you didn't make the cut after exam etc. They check your weight all the time as well, right ?
