He’s definitely not lip synching but I completely understand your point. From what I’ve seen, there’s a huge difference in the way he sounds depending on whether it’s at a concert or one of these TV/radio things. It’s probably a combination of being more nervous to sing in front of thousands of people and the amount of energy he puts into running/jumping/dancing around to entertain the crowd for hours which makes him a lot more out of breath than standing still and doing one song at a time.

1:34 you hear "me" but he turns his head down and doesn't actually say "me". They had to pre record and play to that. A lot of times bands are forced to do this depending on the venue. So... Josh actually is a phenomenal singer live, this is just one show that's pre recorded

It makes sense that they would need to do this for some songs since they write most of their songs beforehand and learn how to play them live after. This is why some guitar parts/instruments heard during a live performance need dubbed in, and ends of phrases continue without Josh moving his mouth/with his head down.

Josh's guitar is in the right speaker, so at 2:01 why is his hand still strumming but there's no scratching sound?? These knitting factory performances are seemingly highly rehearsed and played to a backing track (most likely containing a click to stay in time with) with certain parts dubbed in on any instrument/vocals. They are talented, and are talented at playing with a click, so these kind of flubs I point out usually get missed by most people. Pay close attention to the minor details.

Watch videos of them playing 'Porcelain' live, the high harmony in the ending is not actually being sung by Josh, it's always dubbed in and he sings a different harmony underneath that he can actually sing.

I wouldn't consider the scratch "noise" since it's suppose to be there, not sure why they would cut it out. Maybe this knitting factory does do too much post production on their sessions, but I won't deny that Mtrench DOES take the easy way out, and they really only started to do a lot of it since Ever After.

I'm pretty sure half the vocals are lip synced. Watch at 0:44 Josh physically ends his word "else" sooner than the vocal and shortly after in the chorus "I thought you wanted me" He doesn't even say "me" he has his head down. There is also a lot of instrument dubbing. Just pay close attention in all of these knitting factory vids. There are little flubs like this in everyone of them. Watch Josh's mouth and head, watch the strumming of guitars, even 2 guitars playing when Josh doesn't have one.

To add to this little section I pointed out...He also starts the strumming before the scratching is heard then continues after the scratch stops, as I pointed out. I could go on about all the little things I notice in all of these performances but it would just be boring and redundant. Please don't take me wrong, I'm not trying to shit on MTrench; they are in my top 3 favourite bands and I'm undeniably a HUGE fan. I'm just upset one of my favourites takes the easy way out. I feel cheated :(
