@audreyschockett8277 Жыл бұрын
the ironic thing is this song has become something of a period piece; a lot of the tropes he sings about here are specific to that era of pop music (early 2010s, with maybe some late 2000s aspects) & now almost a decade has passed since then so a lot of those tropes that were typical back then aren’t as common in the current era of pop anymore bc the genre has already evolved so much since this song was released. so even if it was initially meant to be satirical (& still is), all it does now is make me feel nostalgic for the era i grew up in (& tbh now this has the same energy as the “generic songs” from bojack, i mean that as a compliment)

How can so many people be missing the the irony? The music video and the lyrics video are both the epitome of irony and parody. The song literally throws shade at pop music, which is ironic because Pop 101 is a pop song... the music video also uses tons of stereotypes and standard pop video additives. The whole point is to be sassy and ironic towards pop music. I think it's pretty awesome.

Lyrics: Pop music 101 Some simple instructions, for a good first impression Now lets start with verse one A minor chord, tensions grow Fade in the bass like so Now with momentum go Stop And bring the beat back It's called four on the floor A beat you can't ignore I bring sexy back once more, they love that for sho The chords are 1-4-6-4 Now I'm talking familiar Harmony in thirds not fourths We'll take you into the pre-Real quick now don't you bore us Hurry up and get to the Dumbed down, they won't ignore us Get to the floor And here's the words you should know Like "DJ never let me go" Or "shots and then we'll lose control" Or "baby, baby, baby, baby, baby" How 'bout one more last word like: "Hey girl we've only got tonight" Some things just go together like Higher, desire, and fire Higher, desire, and fire Guitar and strings like these To sound like Black Eyed Peas This one's a filtered swing This one's a matching key Hipster music on cassette But you probably don't know that yet 8-0-8's Hell yeah Heartfelt pop anthems From Mumford and his sons Gang vocals here we come Thinkin' "I will always wait" Real quick now don't you bore us Hurry up and get to the Dumbed down, they won't ignore us Can't slow down Get 'em to the Whoa, and here's the words you should know Like "DJ never let me go" Or "shots and then we'll lose control" Or "baby, baby, baby, baby, baby" How 'bout one more last word like: "Hey girl we've only got tonight" Some things just go together like: Higher, desire, and fire Higher, desire, and fire (I can pitch shift my voice if I want I can pitch shift my voice if I want I can pitch shift my voice if I want I can make my voice low) The bridge is the part when you bring in a rapper friend You simplify, and slow the beat Abbreviate "feature" to "feat" Quick now, fill in the gap Right up and down, eliminate that which You really would rap and give 'em a classic like G-G-G-Get to the floor (CASH MONEY) And here's the words you should know Like "DJ never let me go" Or "shots and then we'll lose control" Or "baby, baby, baby, baby, baby" How 'bout one more last word like: "Hey girl we've only got tonight" Some things just go together like: Higher, desire, and fire Higher, desire, and fire Boots n cats n' Boots n cats n' (Joshua Ramsay) Boots n' cats n' Boots n' cats n' Boots n' cats And boots

MT is beautiful as always ;-; It's not only pop that's guilty of similar music though. Alternative rock is so guilty (pops worse BUT) of the same chord progressions etc, but regardless of the genre the message is still there about music being the same over and over and so because of that I showed this song to my Musicology (the theory of music) class and my teacher thought it was hilarious! Nick P honestly once you know basic music theory and how to use whatever digital work station your using, if you already know what loops, and sounds your going for, you can make a song in under 5 mins, I've seen some people do 2-3 mins, he makes fun of music because we even appreciate his simplicity, that artists get away with such little effort put into the making of the actual music

This is brilliant and really funny 'cause there making fun of pop music in a creative way!" .....lol umm what? The music video is the way it is to mock and make fun pf pop music videos. you sillys

This guy is a genius - makes it sound easy here and in theory it is l: A Bm D G, four on the floor and all the beats etc but it’s much more than that and much harder than that. Melody is what we remember as “a song” it’s what we can hum to people to try find the name of a song we have forgotten. And melody is the hard thing to find within even those simple 4 chords, the best songs ever written all used them. And every one of those songs sounds completely different and unique. This guy is clearly a master of his craft and is being satirical but you to try write “call me maybe” or “umbrella” or whatever else. It’s not easy or everyone would be.

this guy WROTE call my maybe, that's what makes it so funny. He has mastered the art of finding the perfect song and creating it. Name's Josh Ramsay :)
