@Xavier E people like RBN and those they're connected to -- Jimmy Dore, Aaron Mate & Greyzone, Sabby Sabs, etc etc, basically all these aggressive "leftist' grifters -- have exactly the same kind of appeal, indoctrinate and radicalize pipeline as the right do. They appeal to people who cannot grasp nuance. People with serious mental illnesses. People who are literally just not particularly smart. And then they feed them a narrative that both unveils like episodic TV and feeds their natural biases. The worst part is that people like RBN and Dore specifically foster this type of audience and then direct them like Lemmings to attack their opponents. And it all works because every single one of them has high school mentality. Because it is a fundamental part of how they appeal to people and foster audience lol

I agree. There's one thing about this exchange that I found very interesting and relatable for me personally, and that was the moment the dude came in and said she was full of bullshit while pretending to be sincere. It's been my experience that people who are dead set on being the oppressed party or being the morally correct minority position but rely on deceptive tactics or essentially shouting louder than the next guy, they make up a significant portion of the people who will look at a person with deeply held beliefs who can speak about those beliefs with sincerity and kindness even to those that oppose them and claim that the sincerity is fake. It is fundamentally reactionary in nature but a very unfortunate perspective to hold on to because if you happen to be the person accused of fake sincerity, you have no argument to send back towards them that would not be stooping to their level. Sincerity is one of those things that can only really be proven over the course of time through one's consistency... And these reactionary folk are beleaguered with a short attention span for which they have no valid excuse. I also got the very stark feeling of misogyny out of this and it actually made me feel a little bad for the young woman who is part of this channel. I don't remember seeing her or hearing her speak before but it does seem like she may have an equally balance sincerity from a different perspective, but may be routinely railroaded by co-hosts because she doesn't stoop. It would not surprise me at all if she's the primary reason why they would get any prominent political names to come on to their show... And I felt like this spot really demonstrated a potential schism where I wouldn't be surprised if she announced actively separating from this group as a whole based on principle. Of course, my not having listened to her speak on anything else before could very well make my comment here look idiotic. For all I know, she's gone on her own low IQ scree or three... But I had a lot of respect for Williamson making a point to not get derailed towards the end and to make it clear that the stupidity of the men on this call did not burn the bridge between the two women. It can be very difficult to maintain one's composure in those moments and she handled it well.

I really wasn’t excited about Marianne’s candidacy until I saw the way she handled this. As Vaush pointed out, she comes across principled and genuine; unwilling to bend to make her more electable. Which couldn’t be a more stark contrast to Biden, who embraces electability like an ice cream cone. She’s gonna lose, but if she campaigns like she has nothing to lose then the media will definitely pay attention. I just hope it’s not doing anything silly. They’ll mock her and try to make her look silly, but if she is just sincere and really stays on the attack then she will have an audience. I remember Bernie Samders announcing his 2016 campaign for President because Jon Stewart covered it and the media’s howling response to it. People were laughing until they weren’t.

It's not only the fact that she can quote the Bible, the Talmud, the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther king, and Nelson Mandela, and tie it all together, and apply it to public policy. It's not only the fact that she knows the history of America at a federal level, she also knows the history state by state, it's that there are no cue cards or prompters! This is all in her head! She remembers it, and can rattle it all off at a moment's notice, because she lives and breathes it. She understands what connects to what, and why it's relevant. Am I crazy for thinking these are precisely presidential qualities?

Dude I've been so torn on Marianne Williamson. Like, in 2019/2020 I was pretty surprised at how quickly people wrote her off though I expected the way the media tried to portray her as a "woo woo crystal worshipping hippie". When I listened to her interviewed, she had in depth opinions and a good understanding of things. Basically she is amazingly progressive but realistic in how we you can't just flip the system overnight and to pretend we can like some of these tankies/"eff the Dems" ppl want isn't only dishonest, it would be morally insane to try to just flip it all even if we got some super lefty in. That kind of change would basically have corporations forming a fascist army overnight and while us mil would have fun it'd leave a lot of ppl unalived That said, there were some concerning stories from staffers who worked for her and I'm not sure what to make of them but will say that people who just sh*t on her seem to not realize how valuable having people like her, Bernie, AOC, etc are in moving things forward and leftwise. Like, this is ultimately why I started watching Vaush. The way most far left streamers and their viewers seem to fantasize and have a radical, cult like mindset that they purity test everyone with is...insane yeah but also harmful to all leftists. Anyway, yeah, if nothing else, I've gotten a lot of spiritual comfort from Marianne's books and sermons. She also helped me find other schools of spirituality like advaita vedanta which has honestly been super helpful dealing with society and politics!

@@jatsko3113 Fair point, but do you honestly think a third party can succeed in bypassing the duopoly? They literally control who can get on ballots, etc… . There is no doubt that the DNC/DCCC are corrupt and serve the donors (capitalists). But I am not convinced that the R and D parties are “the same”, or that incrementalism is worse than losing our democracy. Though I’d grant that, being very optimistic, it may be possible to create enough of an Independent coalition to put pressure on the parties to begin to represent us, the voters. The problem is that the Independent registered voters are not politically or ideologically aligned, either. That is why third party candidates are so often just “spoilers” to their closest party. If you have a better idea, I’d love to see it in action. Honestly. I’ve voted third party twice in my life, and felt it was right at the time. But when I knew I was choosing more dangerously between anemic democracy and evangelical Christian theocratic nationalism, I chose the “devil I know”. I’d love a different system, ranked choice voting, multi-party praxis, democratically owned workplaces… . Until then I don’t think working within the party is some kind of atrocity against progressive ideals. 🤷‍♀️.

Obviously, there are a lot of areas in which a person can have an opinion, but I do generally agree with your opinion on Biden as spoken around the 30-minute mark... I believe we're also in alignment with what happened in 2016 because, despite my vehement distaste for Hillary and my rather stronghold position within leftist spaces - leaning into socialism, despite my working on the Bernie Sanders campaign and being very very frustrated to watch what happened to him *especially* after listening to him speak on why he wouldn't run for president during his appearances on Tom Hartman's show for a number of years, I still recognized that Orange Man Bad held a real threat of terminal effect and I voted for HRC, then I sat in my car and had frustration tears. I hated that I had to vote for her but I had this daunting experience in my gut that, on the day after that election and the announcement of Orange Sludge being president, kicked off approximately 4 years of progressively worsening anxiety about nuclear Holocaust. I went into surgery on November 18th or so in 2016 and while we were doing pre-op, I remember looking at my surroundings and thinking to myself that 1. I knew I needed the surgery, but 2. I was at peace with the possibility that I might not wake up from that surgery specifically because of who was president at that point. I was certain that my ongoing medical life would be continuous torture, reverted back to HMOs and pre-existing condition clauses that would eliminate every support structure and every opportunity I might have, especially for moving into a small independent business space, specifically because of how many years I had lived where it was required that you work a standard job if you wanted to have any kind of medical insurance after having a diagnosis put on your chart. Younger people today have no conceptual idea as to how problematic that would have been and it scares me how easily people are open to suggesting alternatives that put things like the ACA at risk... But when Biden came up for election, I was again pretty frustrated that he was the end result candidate, but obviously I went and voted for him because I did not want Orange Man Bad to get another four years. I was certain that we were going to lose our country if that happened. I simply prepared myself for an inactive disappointing president in Biden and if I'm honest about it, I have been pleasantly surprised by a number of the things he has done since taking the presidency. It reminds me of a certain trend you see with the older generations... Particularly the advanced elderly. That is, you will always have a small percentage of people who maintain the vehement bigotry and racism of yesteryear until the day they die, refusing the touch of nurses who are POCs and constantly arguing against the audacity and entitlement of the youth! But one thing we do see in the elderly, something that seems to be growing with each generation that reaches those ages, is this release of social decor and traditionalism. They may still hold some of those feelings and beliefs but we see a pretty consistent trend of people becoming more open as they get older... And now we have elderly hippies who are returning to their roots fo example, doing things like spiking the number of ER visits for the elderly who have smoked too much because they're at a point to let down their responsibility guard and either recapture their youth or try to experience something better in those golden years.. I honestly think that's what we're really seeing with Biden. I think we're seeing him embrace some of the more "progressive" attitudes because the reality of those attitudes is that they are more or less human-centered attitudes. They are a release of needing direct and oppositional competition where one person has to be a loser... It's a shifted focus to concentrating more on the fundamental goodness that is being a human being and existing and the beauty that is enveloped in that existence, letting go of things like clout and fame and riches, presumably because there's a rather acute awareness of time being limited at that point. I think as long as a person is under the age of maybe 45, they're built with a certain delusion of eternal life and when they are presented the question of their mortality, it is disturbing and alarming and something that can be very upsetting... But the older you get past that point, the more comfortable you are with the reality of what it means to exist and then to flow back into the ether. The more comfortable a person is with the things they've done with their life in the past and the more at ease they are with a transition out of their flesh prison, the far less likely they are to cling to oppositional competition.. So in the case of Biden, even though we know he is a devout Catholic, even though we know that some of the things that he has rolled out as potential policies if not full on executive action choices are at odds with his faith, he's not approaching it like George W did... Because Bush was pretty hardcore in his faith too but he believed that he should defer to God above all else for the decisions he made for the country.. What we see with Biden is that he may personally still feel that he should be deferring to God above all else, but when he's looking at the life and the parameters he's constructing for the country as a whole, he recognizes that his beliefs do not policy make. In some ways it reminds me of the difference between a place like MCC AKA the Metropolitan Community Church and one of the many mega churches. My local MCC does community outreach and, at least when I was working with them for a bit, they administered breakfast and social support to anyone who came to their door, focused on the houseless but quite literally anybody who needed a hot breakfast and an affirmation through socializing could come to breakfast on the weekends and be fed. Did they want you to stay for church? Absolutely, if you were open to it, but did you have to? No. They didn't do it like so many churches do, where they insist you sit through a service before they will guide you to the table for breakfast. MCC would feed you first, build that community, and bring you in if that was a home you needed to have. At the time, I was personally just exploring them as a resource after Reading the book _Prayers for Bobby_ so I wasn't there necessarily for a spiritual reason, but I had mad respect for the way they treated the community. By comparison, mega churches do everything the flip side. They require a promise. They require an oppositional competition against those who wouldn't support a belief in God or an adherence to Christianity, against those who might question their nature, at least theoretically. They shout their fundamental principles while living lives in opposition to those principles, making a space that is often an area of serious need for the individual into one that is volatile and uncomfortable under the guise of caring for you. So in this respect, I feel like this church analogy is similar to the conflict between Republicans and Democrats. They work within the same sphere, they are focused on the same central point, theoretically the improvement of our community through political action and policy... But one side of that aisle tends to be more critical and more vocal about their disagreements while bringing a plan to remedy the disagreement, while the other side will behave in ways that are directly contradictory to what they say they are seeking to accomplish. I may not like a lot of Democrats And I might think anybody who goes into politics is at least a small percentage provably dishonest about who they are and what they believe and what they're fighting for... But I would much rather put the safety of my life into the hands of the Democrats because I feel like they at least demonstrate some capacity to actually mean what they say.. that they're comfortable with improvements for our country that might not show an ROI in the first year. Fixing some of our biggest problems needs to have a longer term vision than the next 2 to 4 years.

Parties care about their voters. If you don't vote, they don't care about you, because you are not voting. They don't get anything from you.

I've never trusted MW's woowoo spiritual vibes but I don't know if that's a problem with my bias because my mom is exactly like that. The fact she is being 'exposed' by all the wrong types 'leftists' is a major positive endorsement.

Damn, she did great on this, it makes me want to hear more from her. Solid, clear statements about divisive topics are so rare from politicians.

The cognitive dissonance of saying that the money spent on bernie was a waste while suggesting that it should have been allocated towards a third part is just insane. A socialist party will be neccesary to actually achieve change, but third parties must be made viable before that is even possible on a national scale.

Most things people want can be achieved through local elections (sometimes only through local elections like police issues). But you can do both. You can vote in local elections and federal elections.

Yeah you can see when Marianne feels the tone of the room shift from a normal television friendly conversation on the left, to a Jimmy Dore-esque virtue signal yelling rant.

This was like a competition to see who could be the most embarrassing member of the panel. I didn't think SocialistMMA could ever be defeated, but boy was I wrong.
