RECORDED ON NOVEMBER 15, 2018
Marie Tippit demonstrated courage and fortitude during one of the saddest periods in American history. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., November 22, 1963, on a quiet residential street in Oak Cliff, Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit observed 24-year-old Lee Harvey Oswald walking down the sidewalk. People could often be seen walking to work or to a store during a time when car ownership was not ubiquitous, but certain behaviors merited this experienced officer’s attention. He stopped to investigate and was shot four times. A passerby, Domingo Benavides, notified police using Officer Tippit's own police radio of the tragic circumstances.
In a matter of moments, Marie became a widow with three small children.
While the nation watched the funeral of its beloved President John Kennedy, another funeral occurred one hour later for the fallen officer J.D. Tippit at the Beckley Hills Baptist Church in Oak Cliff.
During this tragic weekend, a most endearing exchange of messages occurred between Jackie Kennedy and Marie; the two widows expressed condolences to each other with the kindest sentiments. Also, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and the new President, Lyndon Johnson, called Marie to express their sympathies.
When asked about how she wants the public the remember her fallen husband, she replied, “He was a good Christian man who took his family to church and worked other jobs to support us. No amount of time can take away my pain I feel for the man I loved. And for anyone who thinks I'm over it, well, they never knew J.D. Tippit. And I coming to your library to honor his memory.”

What a lovely, strong woman. Hearing that she was contacted by RFK, Jackie and others warms my heart and takes me back to a simpler time when people had compassion during a horrific, tragic time. I was 11 years old when this happened and at that age did not understand al lot of what was happening. My sincerest condolences to the Tippit family and RIP Marie Tippit.

JD Tippet was an adulterer. He had a girlfriend nearby. JD was sent to that area on an assignment to murder Lee Harvey Oswald, but Lee was not there. JD stood next to badge man, Roscoe White, on the Grassy Knoll while Roscoe blew JFK’s head off. JD Tippet was a handsome man and looked like JFK. JD was murdered, so parts of him could be used to fix up JFK’s corpse on the way back to Washington on Air Force 2. Rachel White and Richard Hooke figured most of this stuff out.

Its not time in tragedy to talk about Johnnie Maxie Whitherspoon Thorton she worked at Cooks BBQ where JD moonlighting 2nd job on security, Stephen Thorton and Johnnie got unionized in September of 1963. Their daughter Susan “Susie” Susan Marie Thornton (born June 17, 1964) has died (on July 16, 2021) waitress worker at cooks said she had JD’s eyes. Stephen would stalk and follow JD around… reason for Johhnie and Stepehn Divorce. Marie made a scene at cooks a week later after JD was murdered because Johnnie put flowers on his grave. wonder if it was a case of jealous husband. Always look at jealous husband first, not likely because it was 38 automatic and was strategic shots and fatal head shot. this is house assassination official recap: VIII. MRS. JOHNNIE MAXIE WITHERSPOON “Committee investigators also interviewed Mrs. Johnnie Maxie Witherspoon.(23) Mrs. Witherspoon stated that she became acquainted with Officer Tippit during his employment at Austin's Barbecue.(24) Mrs. Witherspoon informed the committee that she and Tippet engaged in a relationship and started dating for a couple of years.(25) She said that the relationship ended in the summer of 1963 when her husband returned home.(26) She also indicated that Bill Anglin was an associate of J.D. Tippit's.”

I’ve visited Tippets marker several times & all the other sights of JFK. To hear this pure woman speak is a blessing to have been filmed. That being said & believing Tippit & Oswald were both marks of a much higher plot. However, she’s a blessing to know her husband was pure & whoever the evils were to take out her husband aren’t worthy of speaking- As her husband was pure & true. I believe Oswald & Tippit we’re both killed by the same man.

What a lovely lady. I retired from the Queensland Police Service here in Australia, 3 years ago after 37 years service. I too served in the Australian Army prior to my police service. Unfortunately I lost a number of mates during those years and dealt with a few families. It is the ultimate sacrifice to lay down your life in the execution of your duty. Rest in peace JD and Marie (I believe she has since passed away). With Honour he served. On another note. On Monday the 26th of October 1964, one of our policemen, Senior Constable Desmond Trannore was fatally shot at a domestic dispute at an area known as Little Mulgrave, situated near the town of Gordonvale in Far North Queensland south of Cairns. Whilst I performed duties at Gordonvale in 1987, I made some inquiries about his death. Strange thing is that when Des got the phone call in relation to the disturbance, he drove home to his home, which was on the way, and spoke to his wife Colleen. He also spoke to his children. He told Colleen to keep his dinner hot as he would be home after he attended the job. He never returned. It's just as well he did stop at home. His family got to see him for that short time. Uncanny how similar this was to JD's story.

It's sad I'm sorry to have to say! She was never confronted about this, but in her mind she prolly would b in denial about his infidelity behaviour! She would just continue saying great stuff with her opinion on her husband's treatment to her! She'd prolly mention " Oh, I don't talk to people that believe in awful stuff about my husband" So yeah Tippet was an " alert" fine upstanding citizen at times! But it is what it is! One witness described Tippet pulling in front of his car, getting out, looking inside, and then getting back in the car and leaving. An employee of a local music store lent Tippet the use of his phone and stated he seemed bothered and that whomever he was trying to call did not answer. If I remember correctly, in the book Reasonable Doubt, there was a section regarding the possibility that Tippet was shot by a spurned husband and that the wife had a child early in 1964 that might have been Tippet's. Who knows. There is a lot we do not know about this case. None of this excuses the fact someone shot a policeman, but tying it to the JFK assassination is still very questionable at best.

This was a fascinating presentation, which I greatly appreciated. I was a sophomore in a small college when JFK was assassinated. He had been elected when our American family was still living in South Africa, where I grew up. So I wasn’t very savvy about politics. And living in a Republican state, which didn’t vote for Kennedy, still the grief for our President and his family was heart-felt and the nation seemed united in both our compassion for our first family and outrage for who could have done this. I remember the shooting of police officer Tippett but no other details of his family. I remember soaking up everything I could find about Oswald and his wife and then being horrified by his death by point-blank shots by Jack Ruby. The conclusions I came to back then were that the Warren Commission didn’t reveal the answers by any means. It seemed like a cover-up to me. Many who had significant first-hand reports to share were not even consulted. I didn’t doubt that LHO killed Tippett, however, but I see in the comments that inconsistencies abound. Nevertheless, I was touched by the heartwarming stories told by the the Tippett family, the officers who looked out for the family over the years, and how Jackie and Robert Kennedy reached out personally. I was most touched by the fact that J.D. Tippett was a Christian man, who read the Bible to his family and the fact that of gift God provided in prompting him to come home for lunch just before he died. I love the strength that they showed through the years and how their oldest son must have suffered perhaps the most but come to Christ before he died. The whole story is heart-warming and I was thrilled to have it suggested to me on KZbin. The comments were on the whole heart-warming as well. I’m glad Mr and Mrs Tippett were laid to rest together and that the library captured these moments for all of us. ❤️🌹

JFK’s assassination and funeral played every anniversary on tv for about 20+ years. However, I do remember the assassinations of MLK and Bobby Kennedy in 1968 more vividly. I remember all the adults standing around our brand new TV set and crying, while I played with my Hot Wheels on the floor. It’s my earliest memory as a child. Dwayne Collins: The evidence is overwhelming, the case relatively routine. Had it not been for the prominence of the victim, the case against Oswald could have been tried in two or three days with little likelihood of any but one result. Fifty-eight-plus years of miserable failure in trying to prove a conspiracy. And whether Oswald is alive or not, to defend himself against the mountain of evidence stacked against him, the evidentiary mountain exists all the same.
@garymoore2535

If the evidence is so overwhelming, why did the Assasination Review Board (ARB) conclude that there was indeed " a probable conspiracy " ? Why some 60 years later are documents still being kept secret from the American people ? What is so terrible that it still needs to remain hidden to this day ? If some " lone nut " had really killed a President and Police Officer there would be zero need to keep anything secret. President after President have promised to release the sealed JFK files before they were sworn in......President after President when they were in office and presumably learned the truth, changed their minds and agreed to keep the documents secret. Hoover, before ANY evidence had actually been heard by the Warren Commision, said it was essential that the American people believed LHO had killed JFK acting alone. The breaches of security procedures, the trail of deaths, the threats to witnesses, the unbelievable incompetence of the initial investigation should ring so many alarm bells that any reasonable person would conclude a cover up. I believe that most of the Presidents were good people and therefore they decided that any benefit from full disclosure would be outweighed by the damage done by full disclosure. Whatever it is that is being hidden is huge........so huge we may never know ?

@@garymoore2535 It may be high time to pay better attention in class. The ARRB concluded no such thing as you imagine. To repeat: The ARRB examined all the unreleased files/docs. After their study was done, they reported there was no “smoking conspiracy gun" in any of them. The files that have not been released are because they contain names of people that are still alive and should be protected; or they detail investigative procedures the FBI, CIA or other governmental agencies do not want publicized. The "hidden" files are the last gasp by conspiracy kooks that have nothing left. They have no evidence of a conspiracy and no clue who or what else to blame. Evidently, you're confusing the ARRB with the HSCA, whose determination of "probable conspiracy" was based *_solely_* on last minute acoustical evidence (of a supposed 4th shot). But this evidence was debunked 3 years later by the NRC (National Research Council, part of the National Academy of Sciences), which concluded that the House's conclusion was based on faulty data and poor methodology. This left the House with random static, white noise, and no conspiracy (probable or otherwise).
