I loved your description--tutti frutti clothes. I gained a lot of weight during the lockdowns and right now am looking at a closet full of tutti frutti-colored clothes that don't fit. I am in the process of getting back down to my normal weight but keep looking at these clothes and wish that I had the nerve to just donate them so that when I am back to my normal weight, I can make a neutral capsule wardrobe. You got rid of your colorful clothes, I can do it too!

It really is true that these items will take you anywhere - you will look stylish yet effortless. These classics suit any age so we are no longer slaves to fashion trends. I have a birthday coming up in autumn so will treat myself to a navy caban from one of the French companies. I love the ones by Armor Luxe. I bought some marinieres from Armor Luxe and they are great. My other wish list item is a trench coat. I've been looking for years. I need above the knee and single breasted because I am petite. Also needs to be in a flattering shade for my fair skin. But I will keep looking because I am shopping like a French Woman and will wait for that "wow" piece that is just right. I no longer feel pressured or anxious in shops because I know what it is I am looking for.

Like you I am petite and have been searching for a trench for years but so many of them seem to be made for tall people. I finally found and bought a tailored one to my custom size from Sumissura. You put in your measurements and the coat is made specifically for you. I believe my trench will be in my wardrobe for many years to come so it is an investment piece, not fast fashion. I paid around $270 Australian for mine. You can choose the length, single-breasted, double- breasted etc, and the colour. I was surprised how good the quality was when it arrived. They ship world wide. Bonne chance!

Bonjour Marie-Anne, Thanks to having watched your videos for the past few months, I am building a French chic wardrobe. I had a grey pea coat and will continue to wear it for many years. This spring I'm on the hunt for a trench coat and a blue striped shirt. I am loving the look of wearing shirts tucked in with a belt on my jeans or cords and find it slimming in spite of the fact that I don't have the same waistline I had when I was younger. Since I'm allergic to wool (boohoo) I am always on the lookout for sweaters in cotton or man-made fibres. I find that nylon blends wear much better than acrylic ones. Your new loft studio is a great space for shooting your videos! Merci,

Marie Anne, it is indeed an elegant list for classic pieces! You look fantastic in each of them! For me, I can't pull off the classic trench and the collared cotton shirt. I totally agree with your concept, but have to adjust the details of the items to suit me better.

Hmmm... My LBD is a little red dress, and I don't know that I will ever find a blazer or trench coat that fits my bust unless I have it custom-made. I prefer leather jackets anyhow, I'm finding out in my "old age". I definitely need the black slacks in a variety of fabrics. All set on the dark jeans and cotton shirts. Breton tops are on my list, but I'm scared of the horizontal stripes across my bust line. It really needs no emphasis! I've seen some Breton-type tops with a v-neck and slanted stripes. Do those count?

I love a Mariniere in classic colors. But, I also find them really useful in other colors, especially if I can find one to match a “tricky color” bottom. I have an unusual-color khaki green skirt that didn’t seem to work well with any of my tops, but I found a khaki and white Mariniere that is perfect. (Normally khaki green is pretty easy to combine with other colors, this particular shade isn’t).

I could not agree more about the beauty and value of cashmere sweaters: I now own several and am always on the lookout for sales. They are definitely worth the investment. I would love a classic trench but have difficulty with the proper fit in coats and blazers because I am long-waisted, or long in the torso. I look for princess-style coats in tall sizes and wear longer open cardigans instead of blazers. These are perhaps not so chic but the absence of a defined waist and the softer lines are better for me. While I have been adding more shades of grey to my wardrobe I still love black best, especially for dresses: vive la petite robe noire!

I ordered my striped navy blue and white button down from R. Lauren. It might not make sense to wear it with jeans when I have dress slacks. Too 90's besides. When we were still dressing up more for work, casual Fridays transitioned to a basic jeans day (without holes, too much fading, sagging, or beach wear t-shirts) and not too casual. Back then, we wanted to have a dress shirt for dressing up the jeans. Now, jeans are every day in a casual office and a nice cotton sweater, a quality t-shirt and a cardigan, or casual buttoned shirt with loafers or saddle shoes makes for comfortable work attire. The emphasis for most younger looking gals is on hair and make-up.

I'm pleased to know that I have all of these items except the pea jacket. But I have another jacket that is similar so no need to rush out and buy something more. I'm sure we all have items we'd add, but one staple in my closet is a black cardigan. I have two, and the lighter wool one is all-season. It suits both a casual and a classic outfit. P.S. I always think of loafers as having a very low heel, not quite a flat. So I'd maybe call your shoes a "heeled loafer" since the style with the hardware across the front is what defines a loafer, I believe. I love yours, by the way!

I see so many young women saying the turtleneck is no longer in style because t makes women look like a baublehead. I have just watched this and taken my turtleneck out of the goodwill bag because you look absolutely fabulous in yours.

@@MarieAnneLecoeur I am so happy to have found your channel. I am 56 and live in Australia. I have felt lost about how to style myself lately as the fashion here is quite laid back and coastal. I always feel shabby dressing this way. I can now put together outfits that elevate and celebrate my age. Thank you so much for your timeless tips

I love these classics, however living here on the Australian Gold Coast, sadly there is not much opportunity for a blazer or cashmere sweater. Even in winter it is way too hot, lightweight in winter and super lightweight in summer due to the high humidity.

Bonjour Marie-Anne! I am still looking for a few pieces for my French wardrobe. What do you think of a slightly oversized blazer in linen for Spring? I am on the hunt. Suggestions?

Great list. I am currently looking for a new trench and a well fitted black blazer. Thank you

Dear Marie-Anne, luckily I have most of the items., unless the striped t and sweater, as I'm 2 numbers bigger at my torso than at my hips. This would make my bust even bigger. Instead of loafers I wear other flats, mostly ballerinas. One day I may get a caban jacket, but I've a trench jacket instead...and a -coat, yes. Waiting for spring, after lot of storm and rain only. Thx for your suggestions.

This Texas girl is ready for a trip to France. I have all these items. I love to wear scarves. I especially love them in winter with my coats.

HI Linda, I feel the same way; my wardrobe is ready for France! My outfits are wasted on the locals in my neck of the desert. Natalia Arizona

@@lindariddle2276 I feel like some kind of alien in the desert clad in my elegant outfits, surrounded by the earthlings in their sloppy, wrinkled trash. The clerks at the Safeway in Sun City are always happy to see me, though and always compliment me on my outfits. I look forward to buying groceries. Ha! It's the highlight of my day.

Hi Marie-Anne , thank you what a wonderful vlog. I see I have a lot of fun shopping ahead of me when I return to France to live. I love a good scarf or wrap and will buy them when I see a lovely one, and I have many. Your new area us beautiful, but it is looking a bit dark at the back of the room and was especially noticeable when you did your walk in your lovely black dress. May I suggest a couple of beautiful tall lamps or lights and maybe a beautiful chaise-lounge to compliment that amazing stone work perhaps in a plush cream.or gold velvet behind you to add texture. Greetings From Melbourne Kim 😊👩💼❤

I have the Peacoat! I never wear it. I would love a trench but I doubt I would wear it. I always feel like I am in a straight jacket when wearing a coat in the car so I tend to wear thinner down coats. I know, I know, we are supposed to look good and that is not always comfort. I had a gorgeous scarf knitted to wear with Peacoat too. I will wear it this winter. I need a button down but need to lose a bit more weight first. I Love this list, I love your channel!

@@MarieAnneLecoeur LOVE your channel, love the advice. Just bought two of your books. Now that I just tossed about 100 pieces of clothes that do not fit, look frumpy, or I just do not like, I will need to organize my closet . Your book will help me buy chic clothes and organize my closet . I am excited!

Again, thank you Marieanne. I have most of the items you suggested and will invest in a trench. I’ve been loving wearing scarves and feel very chic. I do have to adapt jeans and slacks because I’m pear 🍐 shaped and chubby. Maybe 🤔 you could suggest a look for a more full figured woman. Thank you so much for your videos, and I think your husband should be a regular on them! Merci, Sandra
