The more I listen to Devia, the more I admire her, and I don't really understand why she wasn't more famous. I once watched another video of her here on KZbin (singing, I think, "Caro nome") and it was so fascinating to observe the movement of her abdominal muscles supporting her breath.

Wow...did anyone notice that she did her opening vocalise UP a half step, and STILL didn't run out of top notes to pull it off? Nothing short of amazing!!! I think that perhaps her longevity is due to the fact that her career didn't blow up like many of the other popular sopranos we know who didn't sing well into their 60s like Devia still does. Thanks for posting, pacocorona1978!!!

I think you're confused; she didn't "take it up a half step," that's not how tonal music works, you can't just change the key of a portion of a piece. She drifted sharp over the course of the cadenza, which began in the right key, but by the time the orchestra came back in she was higher than them, although not quite a whole half step.

Comme toujours Devia est parfaite techniquement ; le dernier contre mi est lumineux et il est certain qu'elle arrache le rôle aux rossignols d'après guerre et son approche est beaucoup plus moderne . en ce sens , elle rejoint Sutherland
