I miss the floods. Remebering everytime it flooded the entire town pulled together and cleaned up, like a giant interlinked family. It was amazing how fast the town recovered, even better than ever. The other thing i miss is the old Brownies bakery, with the best creame filled donuts around. Well miss you Brownies!!!

This still breaks my heart. I worked on Front Street at the time and clean up was awful but the community was awesome in the effort to restore!

I remember having yo help by canoe to take supplies to Lafayette because people just couldn't get out. Except by boat. Community pulls together everytime. God bless this beautiful place. I miss it

We live out in Devola and right at the Hasty Shopper the fire dept were stopping people warning of a possible levy break in Lowell. The water went right up to that point. We were very thankful to live up on Sylvan Way, it was wild seeing jet skis in Devola yards! Very sad to see this but it's a great video.

I see my house at 3:09! I love it here. This town is amazing, really. I never plan on moving. The people are great and the down-to-earth simpleness is perfect.

kinda cool to see pics of my grandma's house (also my childhood home.) Flood was always the F-word in our home due to the fact that her house is the first house in Marietta to flood...... The flood in 2004 really messed up her house, knocked it off the foundation and destroyed the downstairs. But, as someone said in a previous comment, it is amazing how the town pulls together and helps each other out, wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

At the time of the 9/04 flood, my husband and I were living in a trailer in the back of the Washington County Fairgrounds, which was our first home that we lived in from our wedding in August of '03 to January of '05. We got a foot and a half of water in our trailer from the first flood. (I guess the officials at FEMA really felt sorry for us, because I'm guessing my dad told them it was our first home, because they gave us a generous amount to put toward a house that we lived in from 1/05 to 3/09, when circumstances forced us to move to my hometown of Caldwell). We put our trailer up for sale just before Christmas in 2004, and finally had it sold just before the 1/05 flood. On the morning that the second flood was supposed to hit, we moved our stuff out of the trailer and stored it in my mom's garage in Caldwell, because we were planning to move to the house we'd bought later that month, and stayed with my mother-in-law for awhile (we stayed with my mother-in-law for six weeks while we were cleaning up from the first flood, but our stay was only a week and a half after the second flood). We were told that we really got lucky, because the guy who bought our trailer came and moved it out just in time, because if he'd waited another half-hour, it would've had water in it again.

not sure why people are say this was "fun" or that they "would like to have another flood" . Do you realize how many people lost their homes, cars and almost everything they have? It's just disrespectful. The 2005 flood was so bad because no one was prepared for it because they predicted the river to crest below flood stage and they changed it last minute at about 10pm so people were in bed and didnt have time to move anything out of their homes. Horrible.

It seems as if this is about to happen again with the rivers rising again. Iived in Lowell back in 04 and my house got completely surrounded by water. It was fun though haha.

I'm new to Marietta and i live next to Muskingum River. I hope to never see this type of flood 😲 I wonder how long people were stuck in their houses.
