You can easily pollinate your tomato flowers by flicking the flowers for 5 seconds or so with your fingers. Some people use an electric tooth brush on the flowers/stems. The marigolds are a great idea. Basil works too. Great video! Your daughter is precious.

So good to see you & Little Miss Sunshine. I’ve missed y’all. I haven’t been getting notifications, for some reason. I got a notification today & saw that you have been posting, so I’m playing catch up on your videos. The gardens are looking great. Hope you have abundant harvests. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏

I’ve found that my perennial onions and basil are the biggest pollinator and beneficial insect attractors. Thai basil is a huge magnet. Today I saw 8 different types of bees and a frog on my onions that are blooming!

You should look up a home made tromel for your mulch. It will separate out the briar roots.

Tomato flowers have both male and female parts in the flower. The wind or you can shakes the plant. The pollen releases and pollinates the tomatoes. I believe peppers too.

I saw on the MI gardener channel you can just flick the tomato buds for a few seconds and pollinate them. Have to do all that are close together.

That's what you call self pollinating.

I was thinking the same thing .... tomato’s can be self polluted easy.

We have a massive annual wildflower garden next to our garden and zillions of bees -- but zero honey bees. I guess nobody raises honey bees in our area and they are not native -- but the native ones get the job done! 😊

🌽🌽🌽🌽🎃 You could grow winter squashes among your corn. These plants benefit each other, look up three sisters, they grow well together. First plant the corn, two weeks later climbing beans and soon after winter squashes. Native gardening traditions, that work well.

Shake the plant to pollinate or beat with a rolled up newspaper
@megankrantz96584 жыл бұрын
Tomatoes self pollinate just from the wind or anything that shakes them.

How did you put all that fine mulch down without getting dirty? I would have been covered head to toe with it and my hair would have been all pulled down from catching on the tomatoes. You look just as great when you finished as you did when you started! I love the idea of pitting your marigolds between the tomatoes. I'm going to try that this year. Usually I give my marigolds their own rows.

Over the past fifty years I have noticed no difference in the pounds per tomatoe plant compared to years when we had lots of bees. I dont count tomatoes, i do see the same numbers of quarts of Tomatoes per row of plants. Tomatoes pollinate very well from wind unlike squash which does need frequent pollinators .Please remember , the honey bee is not native to north americia .
@teakkabean4 жыл бұрын
That’s a hula hoe. It swivels back and forth. Push and pull. Been using one for 50 years And shake those tomatoes they will self pollinate.
