Music and art. Dance and architecture. Romance and painting. To make these different artistic medias encounter and reflect one in the other - such an idea has inspired the collaboration of the two major institutions renowned as treasuries of the Russian cultural heritage: the Mariinsky Theatre and the Russian Museum.
The project is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the State Russian Museum, which is the world's largest depository of Russian fine art. The performances of artists of the Mariinsky orchestra, opera and ballet, including specially staged for this unusual venue, filmed and produced by the MARIINSKY.TV team, are a friendly birthday gift from the theatre to the Russian Museum.
Starring: Ekaterina Semenchuk (mezzo-soprano) and Vasily Popov (piano), soloists of the orchestra Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici (violin) and Sofia Kiprskaya (harp), as well as the quintet of Sofia Viland (flute), Nikita Vaganov (clarinet), Alexei Fyodorov (oboe), Rodion Tolmachev (bassoon) and Zakhar Katsman (horn).
