I think it might be likening the opening of a lover's legs to the breaking of bread. The verse starts with the lines "Take me in / Open up and spread me thin". Like two hands pull a loaf apart to share or to apply spread, lovers open up to engage in intercourse. Additionally, the sharing of bread is the source of the word "companionship" and the heart of the Catholic sacrament of Communion. This takes the theme of union through the action of "eating" and links it to the religious tones at start of the next verse: "Oh sacredness / I don’t believe in nothing else". The lover is deified, elevated to the status of a god, then-like the Eucharistic bread that becomes the body of Christ-eaten in a desperate bid to become closer to the holy. By continuing to interpret the song through a Christian lens, the "garden of slime" is the Garden of Eden, the body the tree, and within lies the forbidden fruit: peach-fuzzy on the outside and oh-so sticky on the inside. TL;DR: The narrator wants to be torn open and devoured like bread because the act of consumption can be sacred if you want it to be.
