"and she was in tears after the second song" ---> 👍 That is what music is about, what art is about: to move people. That is what Marillion wants to achieve. And that is the most difficult goal to reach for any artist: to really *move* people. Marillion is not my favorite band, but I listened to this song uncountable times since it was released, and I still drop tears. It moves me, too. Incredible.

Love this song from Marillion. This version is just fantastic. Marillion is England's best kept secret....

the song is about thinking you are more important than anyone else and going through life in a reckless way with no regard for others around you, all you see is the space around you and no body else is important enough to acknowledge, then you realise its quite a lonely place to be . that's my interpretation of it , love this band so much, word are not enough

I was there that night. So much love in the room after Marillion finally made it to the Albert Hall after being underplayed on radio and dismissed by the music press. I bumped into the band a week later in Helsinki airport and they were still buzzing. The Space has many meanings but sometimes we create space around us when when we're overwhelmed by success, tainted with arrogance or humbled by heartbreak. I still get goosebumps watching this performance

Incredible live performance. I am moved to tears, jaws dropped. Best Marillion act I have seen in many years. Almost a "once in a lifetime"-experience. But you never know that in advance. Mostly it is simply luck, the "right" audience, the "right" vibe. Lucky ones, those who were present.

I wish I would have been there, but like so many legendary concerts, I got to know about them only when they were done. My last Marillion concert attendance is almost 27 years ago. But if they are nearby in the future, I'll be there.

This performance is a monument. Marillion's music is filled with sense and sensitivity, and empathy. It's often dramatic and heavy but it can be lighter and full of optimism too. Moreover, I've listened to some interviews of the band members and they seem to be nice, humble, down-to-earth guys...

Super great reaction Mr H. On the part about the tram - This is what Steve Hogarth had to say: "Feeling fragile. I once saw an Amsterdam tram rip the side off a parked car which had been left too near the tramlines. It did so without slowing down. In terms of mass, the competition was so one-sided, like a ball-bearing and a feather, that I often wonder whether the tram driver noticed it happen. The damage was massive, inevitable, and casual. It's an enduring memory. I have occasionally been the tram. And I have often been the car." He based the song around that incident, but to me it speaks mainly of "Space" - more significantly how small we all are in regard to the size of the universe, and ultimately insignificant, although all equal in that minuteness. I was at the Royal Albert Hall shows, but in 2019 not 2018 - it is an awesome venue - and I was right up in the Gods. The band are assisted by Friends From The Orchestra - a fairly recent addition to some of their shows - and they really help the music shine. Will try to send some more if I can. Glad to see you are enjoying the Marillion journey so far - by the way, it is pronounced Mar-ill-e-on 😉😉 If you do them in the order I sent, the next will freak you out with its lovely tone, but its chilling underlying vibe. 😲😲

@@paulf2557 I am not going to a gig for for food or drinks, I am there for the music. First night we had seats on the floor and it was a great night only marred (at first just slightly) by some very unruly people in the row behind us. If you don't like seated gigs then why go? After the gig was finished they left in quite a hurry it seems and when I got up and got my shoulder bag from under my seat I realised why: they must have dumped at least to full glasses of red wine over it. Had to put the whole thing inside a plastic bag to get us back to our hotel (which was a 15 minute walk from the RAH). The hotel staff noticed the shoulder bag when we got in and actually offered to try to clean it up overnight but it was a lost cause and subsequently had to throw it away the next day. It put a bit of a damper on what was a perfect night. Thankfully we had seats on the first ring, just a few rows above the floor for the second night, and that was a great show as well. I really miss going to gigs but it looks like over here (the Netherlands) it is now finally going to open up. Had my first vaccine jab a few weeks ago and the second one is also already scheduled in 2 weeks time. Regarding Marillion touring: the deciding factor in all of that is I think Marillion's senior citizen, the president of the drums, Ian Mosley. He still looks quite physically fit but he is 'the weakest link'. I do think that once he says he wants to stop touring, the whole band will pack it in. They will not continue Marillion with another drummer.

Funny how a song can be interpreted in different ways. To me, the opening part is about how we in our detachment or absentmindedness lose track of what is going around us ("staring at clouds with no view of below") and hurt people without noticing or meaning to ("he didn't feel a thing"). We may have probed the outer reaches of our minds and horizons ("the space among the stars is something that you know"), but are woefully ignorant of what is in our faces. Then the closing part is the reminder that no matter how detached or apart we feel, when it all comes down to it, we are all basically the same. We are all connected. My two cents, anyway. Interesting reaction, and glad to see another person out there heading down the Marillion rabbit hole. You may not want to leave it. I've been trapped in it for the past 36 years ...
