i'm guessing marilyn's daughter uploaded this in which case i would like to say congratulations on her legendary win. i think it was very diplomatic to add the extra game in which she didn't win. as a teenager in the 80s i loved tuning in to this show and would do quite well even in my young years (and still do) but unfortunately my life didn't go very smoothly (thanks to troubled parents and my own misfortunes) so i am yet to live up to my potential. well, there's still time, i suppose. thanks for posting.

So let me get this straight, the cars were the penultimate prize at $515 then all the prizes plus the cash jackpot at $700, or was there one to get the lot without the jackpot?
@Tubewings Жыл бұрын
Here's how the prize levels worked back then.. Prize #1--$75 Prize #2--$155 Prize #3--$240 Prize #4--$330 Prize #5--$420 CAR (or CARS)--$515 All of the Prizes--$605 The Lot (All of the Prizes + Cash Jackpot)--$700 So it's the CAR/CARS, then the six prizes w/o the Jackpot, then the Lot.

Regarding this cash jackpot sign, was there two versions of the cash jackpot? kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3-Ui2t9m7h4jaMh05m16s kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3-Ui2t9m7h4jaMh27m51s First clip shows a 8 panel with spaces on the left and right, whilst second clip shows 7 panel jackpot. Did any one go to a taping or work for the Grundy/GTV9 and observe the change of the sign to confirm these changes? Any thoughts will be appreciated.
@DannySSJ8 жыл бұрын
The 7-panel sign was used if the cash jackpot was $100,000 or more.
@leaguelegend22168 жыл бұрын
Yes, I understand the 7-panel sign was used for $100k jackpots or more. I get that. However why use an 8-panel sign for jackpots when a 6-panel sign would suffice? .... [$][5][0][0][0][0] That's when I thought either they have two signs, one 7 and 8 digit sign. -or- The middle panel is removed after the $100k to make it a 7-digit panel. I often wonder why it had a space on either side as could cater for a cash jackpot of $1,000,000+ to which would take 476 episodes to go off (or almost in 2 1/2 years). Keeping in mind that switching out of the boards would cause a production delay, and storage of boards. However removing a panel would be more efficient given that the shows were reecorded Mon-Fri and these 'switchover' was during the week.. Any ideas anyone?

The double entrance became a standard in late 1989, was scrapped at the start of 1990, reinstated a few weeks into 1990 when the Masters series began, but was dropped again after a couple of months. In Alyce's run, the way she appeared on set also had some variation (when she wasn't doing the double entrance with Tony). Sometimes the fame game wall would rotate, revealing Alyce on the gift shop set; someone's she would walk out and cross in front of the fame game to Tony's podium.

@HarlemHyena2 жыл бұрын
The whole point of $otC is that the major prize the champ wins is based on their score at the end of the game. They can take any prize up to the last one they unlocked and retire undefeated, or bank their score money and try to add to it (and maybe unlock the next prize) by hopefully winning on the next show. You ever try saving up tickets for something big at an arcade's prize counter? Pretty much like that. Between all those rounds of Skee-Ball, Whack-a-Mole, and Big Bass Wheel, that brand new VR headset is always just outta reach...

The cash box on that was only good to play if you were only just in front. That’s the only time people would play. When they brought cash card in 1989 it was rare someone wouldn’t play because it cost $15 regardless and if they decided not to play the person in second place could play for free but they would remove the cash and they could potentially get the $15 on their score or the prize or the joker.

Brendan Richards Well, I wasn't too sure if any in Australia had won the lot in less than 7 or 8 nights during the shopping format, by the time they adopted the winners board format in 1989, it was 7 nights to win the lot, but by later in 1992, the above rule was changed to 8 wins, and the champ needs to score a minimum of $100 to get the car on the board. So much has changed with the Sale Of The Century format.
